Thursday, January 2, 1364 Church, Lodge Groups Enjoy Holiday Social By DELPHA JONES LEXINGTON Women's Fel lowship group of the Lexington Christian church met at the home of the chairman, Mrs. C. C. Jones last Tuesday afternoon. The business was short, with the main discussion centered on securing a hot water heater for the church. A committee was appointed to look into the cost of one. Secret sister names were re vealed at this meeting and gifts exchanged. Following the meet ing refreshments were served to Mrs. Bertha Hunt, Mrs. Florence McMillan, Mrs. Earl Warner, Mrs. Charles Colley, Mrs. Ed ward Hunt. Mrs. Bill B. Mar- quardt, Mrs. Carl Marquardt and Mrs. Floyd Smith. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Majeske are spending the Christmas hol idays visiting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Har vey and family of Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mounts and son Steve of Bear Springs. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Majeske entertained recently with a pre Christmas dinner at their home. Those present wore Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majeske and children and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colley. Mrs. Boh Cool and children of Pendleton spent the holidays with her mother, Mrs. Florence McMillan. The Social club held its first meeting in two years at the C. C. Jones home last Sunday even ing. Dinner was enjoyed and all motored to Lexington Christian church for the Christmas pro gram. Those present for the din ner were Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Lrdbrtter and children, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt, Miss Charlene Jones, Kenneth Jones and the host and hostess. Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Miller of La Grande were overnight guests of her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones, on Sun day night, Bobby Davidson, who attends EOC, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson, over the holidays. Mrs. Ina Nichols is a patient in Pioneer Memorial hospital. Gene Heliker, son of Mrs. O. W. Cutsforth, is a patient in Pioneer Memorial hospital, re cuperating from major surgery there on December 23. Mr. and Mrs. Serge Covall and children of Goai-hart are visit ing this week at the O. W. Cuts forth ranch. Home Ec Club of I lie Lexing ton Grange met at the homo of Mrs. A. F. Majeske last Thurs day. "What Christmas Means to Me," was the theme used for answering roll call. Following this, gifts were exchanged and refreshments were served to Mrs. Nora Turner, Mrs. Edna Turner, Mrs. Ola Huggles, Mrs. Edward Hunt, Mrs. Charh's Colley, Mrs. Florence McMillan, Mrs. Armin Wihlon, Mrs. C. C. Jones and the hostess and co-hostess, Mrs. Ma jeske and Mrs. McMillan. The next meeting is scheduled for Edna Turner's home. Joint Dinner Meetinq Held Holly Uebekali lodge met last Thursday night for its annual party and gift exchange. Start ing the evening was a pot luck dinner which was en joyed by the Odd Fellows and Kehokahs after which each group held a short metling. A Christmas party was enjoyed at which time carols were sung by the group, a read ing was given by Mrs. Edward Hunt, and each discussed "What Christmas Heally Means to Mo." Mrs. Archie Munkers read a short Christmas story followed by a game, with Mrs. Ed LaTrace of Heppner receiving the prize. Miss Linda Van Winkle, a stu dent at the University of Oregon is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. Van Winkle this week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt enjoyed Christmas Day at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Messenger, Sr., in Mit chell. Charlene Jones of Portland visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones over the Christmas vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Greg Leyva and children of Hood River were hol iday visitors at the home of hor parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steagall. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Munkers are visiting their daughter and family near Tucson, Ariz., over the holidays. They plan a leis urely trip home the first of the year, as they took their trailer house. Laddie Henderson, son of Mr and Mrs. Lonnie Henderson, is visiting his parents while on leave from basic training at Fort Old. Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Dewie Lovelace and children of Ontario, were visitors at the C. C. Jones home several davs over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs, George lrvin and children of Kufus were Christmas Eve visitors with her mother, Mrs. Florence McMillan. The three lrvin children remained foi n visit and their parents motored to Lexington Sunday evening after them, Glenn Eatch of Portland was an overnight visitor i,n Lexing ton on Saturday. Charlene Jones returned to Portland Sunday with him after spending the week here with her parents. Marlene Fctsch. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Al Fetsch, is visit ing her parents while on vaca tion from her school in Port land. Lee Colley was a recent caller at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colley, enroute 1o Corvallis where he will attend a chemical spray school. Mr. Col ley makes his home in Casa Grande, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Peck and daughter, Joyce, were in Portland recently where Joyce received medical attention. Keith Peck, who is stationed at Fort Lewis, Wn., spent Christ mas Eve and Christmas Day at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Peck. Mr. and Mrs. Max Breeding of Portland visited relatives anu friends in Lexington and Hepp ner over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colley spent Christmas at the home of Mrs. Mary Williams and family in Spray. Other guests during the day were Mrs. Olive Reade and family of Spray. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Stanley of Portland were Saturday visitors with his brother-in-law and sis tor, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom, and family. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Hcndrick- son and daughter of Tule Lake, Calif., were week-end visitors at the Joe Yocom home, coming north for the marriage of their daughter, Marian Stanley, to For rest Rinehart, Jr. Mrs. Cora Burnside and Willie Steagall of Spray visited at the Wilbur and George Steagall homes on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steagall entertained with a Christmas Eve dinner at their home. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Steagall and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Brandhagen of Pen dleton, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Steagall and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dougherty and family, Jimmie Steagall, Mrs. Emma Breshears of Lexington and Mr. and Mrs. Greg Leyva and children of Hood River. Lexington Altar Society met at the home of Mrs. Bob Davidson for its Christmas party and elec tion of officers. Gifts were brought for the Eastern Oregon State hospital. The following of ficers were elected: Mildred Da vidson, chairman; Karen Cuts forth, vice chairman; Rosella Lindsey, secretary and Nona Pointer, treasurer. Miss Beverly Davidson is visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson while vacationing from her school in Portland. Church Program, Family Gatherings Mark Holiday By MARY LEE MARLOW BOARDMAN The Good Shep herd Lutheran church held its Christmas program at the church Christmsa Eve. The primary de partment presented the manger scene with recitations and sang "Away In A Manger" and "Silent Night." A film strip, "Peace With Christ," was shown with Rev. Arthur Lewis as narrator. Jim Partlow played a trumpet solo, "What Child Is This?" accom panied by Mrs. LaVerne Partlow, and Mrs. Partlow sang "O, Holy Night," accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Hescock. Mr. and Mrs. Gerold Martin and children Lisa, Mona, Wade, David and Scott spent Christmas in Tacoma, Wn. at the home of Mrs. Martin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Lawson. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Thorpe and children of St. Helens spent part of the holidays visiting at the home of Mrs. Thorpe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Obermeier. Mrs. Arnin Hug was called to La Grande Thursday by the ill ness of her mother, Mrs. Katie Bickford. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hamilton were Christmas guests at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Larry inorpe in Hermiston. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hayes Christmas Eve included their sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Hayes and children of Mau pin, and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hayes and family of Arlington, their daughter, Mrs. Margaret Beall and daughter Patty of Eugene, and Mrs. Hayes' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Louis LeTrace and daughter Barbara of Echo. Christmas Day the Hayes and Mrs. Beall and Patty went to Heppner to have dinner at the home of Mrs. Hayes' brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lov-gren. Lemen's Father Dies Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lemen were called to Salem by the death of Lemen's father, Edward H. Lemen, 77, who died December 19. Burial was in Hubbard. The Lemen's remained in Salem un til after Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely and daughter Eileen spent Christmas in La Grande at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lilly. Mrs. Russell Miller and Jim and Pat, and Rod Flug spent Christmas at the home of Mrs. Miller's son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Carpen ter, in Payette, Ida. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker and children also spent Christmas there, and re mained to visit the rest of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Beeks, Arl ington, were Christmas guests at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marlow were dinner guests Christmas in Pendleton at the home of Mrs. Marlow's brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Kress and son Brian of The Dalles visited at the homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kress and Mrs. LaVern Partlow, during the holidays. Other visitors at the Kress home were their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ball and daughters Barbara and Karen of Hermiston. Mr. and Mrs. Stan King of Portland, former residents here. visited at the home of Mrs. La Vern Partlow Friday. Visitors at trie home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marlow Thurs day were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Neal of Echo. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sledge included Mrs. Sledge's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Anderson of Condon, and Sledge's cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Music and daughters Pam and Connie of Scio. Mrs. Florence Root spent the Christmas holidays in Wasco at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Root. Mrs. Zoe Billings spent the hol idays visiting her sons-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sullivan in San Jose, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Parker in Alhambra, Calif. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black were Mrs. Black's parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. I. Oveson of Tooele, Utah, and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Oveson and children Evelyn, Janet, Greg and Jeff of Wallowa.
