HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, November 28, 1963 SfOETY Leonore Leonnig Honored at Shower The Catholic parish hall was the scene of a bridal shower Fri day evening in honor of Miss Leonore Leonnig, whose mar riage to Kay I. Corbin will be an event of Saturday, December 28. Mrs. Herb Hamilton, Mrs. Pat O'Brien and Mrs. Ilene Wyman were hostesses to Miss Leonnig and 45 other guests. A lace cloth covered the serv ing table which was beautifully decorated with an arrangement of fall flowers in the seasonal colors of orange, yellow, bronze and green. Mrs. Ronald Leonnig, mother of the bride-elect, and Mrs. Bert Corbin poured. Individual pump kin chiffon pies, topped with whipped cream, were also served. Sheridan Wyman and David Clark presented a humorous reading for enjoyment of all, about a newly-wed couple. Pink and Blue Shower Honors Mrs. Murray Mrs. Rod Murray was honored guest at a surprise baby shower given by Mrs. Bob Abrams, Mrs. Bob Jones and Mrs. Nels Ander son at the Abrams' home Thurs day evening. Pink, lavender and white chrysan themums and pink candles comprised a lovely floral arrangement. Mrs. Murray's daughter, Mara lee, assisted her mother in open ing the many gifts. BOWLING BITS Episcopal Bazaar Plans Progressing Mrs. Clarence Rosewall reports that plans are rapidly material izing for the annual Episcopal Bazaar, forthcoming on Satur day, December 7, at the Epis copal church parish hall. A multitude of items from handiwork to decorator gifts and homemade candy will be offer ed for sale to the public, which is cordially invited. Stamate In Umatilla Service Mable (Sue) Hams of Umatilla and James A. Stamate of Stan field were united in marriage in Umatilla on Friday, November 8, by Justice of the Peace Clar ence R. Post. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mabel Davidson of lone, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stamate of Stanfield. The couple was attended by Miss Linda LaVerne Hams, daughter of the bride, and Mrs. James Botts, Hermiston. A reception was held at the home of the bride following the ceremony. Mr. Stamate is em ployed at the Umatilla Army Depot, and the couple is at home at 1551 Seventh Street, Umatilla. Capt. Mick Lanham Gets Army Medal Army Capt. Michael C. Lan ham, son of Conley J. Lanham, Heppner, received the Army Commendation Medal late in Oc tober while serving with the U. S. Army Transp o r t a t i o n School, Fort Eustis, Va. Captain Lanham received the award for outstanding perform ance of duty duirng his recent assignment with the U. S. Army Port of Embarkation in Bremer haven, Germany. The 28-year-old officer enter ed the Army in November 1956. He was graduated from Hepp ner High school in 1952 and re ceived his bachelor's degree in 1956 from Oregon State College, Corvlalis, and his master's de gree in 1960 from the University of Pittsburgh, Pa.
