lone Host to School Men
At Dinner Meet Thursday

administrators and coaches held
a planning meeting and barbe
cue on Thursday evening.
Members of the PTA helping to
serve the dinner were Mrs. Joe
Hausler, chairman, Mrs. Pete
Cannon, Mrs. Ray Boyce, Mrs.
Gene Harryman, Mrs. Leonard
Herrick, Mrs. Wallace Matthews
and Mrs. Harvey Ring. Forty-six
men were in attendance.
Miss Shirley McGreer, daugh
ter of Mrs. Verner Trocdson, has
left for her teaching position at
Chateauroux, France, an Air
Force school. She attended sum
mer school at the University
of Oregon, where she will re
ceive her masters degree.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bristow and
family of Portland were visiting
relatives in lone this week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom
Sr., and Roland drove to the
State Fair taking down some
prize Hereford cattle to show.
Also attending the fair were their
son and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom Jr.,
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl McCabe and
Arleta went to Portland on Tues
day for shopping, and then went
on down to Salem, where Arleta
will participate in the 4-H Style
Revue at the State Fair. She
was chosen champion In her di
vision of modeling at the Mor
row County Fair last week and
received a blue ribbon on con
'structlon at State Fair. They
came home Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Garry Tullis, Tim
and Mark came home on Wed
nesday from Portland, where
they spent a few days shopping.
They also visited Mr. Tullis'
brother, Mr. and Mrs. John Tullis
and family at Beaverton.
Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Kincaid
and daughter returned Thursday
from a vacation spent at Coos
Bay visiting Mrs. Lindsay's aunt
and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Don
Walters. On the return trip they
came up the Oregon coast stop
ping at various places and in

spent the Labor Day week-end
visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs.

left Wednesday for an extended
trip east, where they will visit
Mr. Miller's relatives in Minne
sota. The return trip will be
made through Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Jr.,
took their daughter, Karen, Cher
ilyn Smouse and Kristin Nelson
to the State Fair at Salem on
Thursday. While there Karen
modeled In the 4-H Style Revue
as a winner from Morrow county.
Roy W. Lindstrom, Garland
Swanson, Milton Morgan, James
Barnett drove to Ilwaco, Wn. on
Thursday to spend the rest of
the week deep sea fishing on
Morgan's boat.
Mr. and Mrs. Elbe Akers and
Danny and Mrs. James Barnett
and Ricky and D-Ann left Fri
day morning for a huckleberry
picking trip on Camp Adams.
They picked up Mrs. Aker's other
daughter in Portland, Mrs. Dar
lone Martin and Kim. The Bar
netts and Martins returned on
Sunday.
Mrs. Nancy Zinter and child
ren have moved Into the Paul
Pettyjohn Jr., home on Main
street.
Mrs. Zelma Hughes Clark of
Heppner is living with her aunt,
Mrs. Ida Esteb, and working at

Church Resumes 9:30 Mass
Mass will be held at 9:30 at

morning. Members are asked to

spent from Thursday to Sunday

tin. She attended the rodeo with

and Rollo Crawford drove to San
Francisco last week returning on
Friday evening.
Mrs. G. A. Bolman left on Wed
nesday for her home In Seattle,
after spending some time here
visiting at the home of her
mother, Mrs. Vida Heliker.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Connor
spent the Labor Day vacation at
East Lake fishing.

mountain cabin this week-end
were Mrs. Eubank's brother, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Eubanks and fam

deo and enjoyed watching their
niece, Sandra, participate as
Queen of the rodeo and also as
a participant in some of the

the first of the week for Sumner,
Wn., to visit her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. C. G. Henderson. They will
also visit In Portland, Aberdeen
and her brother at Tacoma.

cafeteria are Mrs. Ida Coleman
and Mrs. Harvey Ring.
Keith Savage has been hired
as sexton and caretaker of the
lone-Lexington Cemetery Main
tenance District. Anyone desiring
annual or permanent care for
plots in the lone cemetery is
asked to contact Carl Troedson,
secretary, soon as grass planting
is to be done shortly.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Lind
strom and family arrived home
Wednesday evening from a va
cation spent in Southern Calif
ornia. They enjoyed seeing Dis
neyland, Marineland, K n o 1 1 s
Berry Farm, Hollywood and a
television studio tour and other
places of interest in the Los An
geles area. They also spent a
day at Catalina Island and
Steve and Roy went to see the
Dodgers play at Chevez Ravine.
Mrs. Tom Davidson and
daughter, Joyce of Los Angeles
are here visiting her father, Earl
Morgan and other relatives.
Joyce is a nurse and will spend
her vacation here.
Mr. and Mrs. Rowell and fam
ily have moved to Pendleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Vic Lovgren and
son Dean are living in the
O'Meara apartments. They form
erly lived in Heppner.
Procks Move to California
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen
left on Wednesday morning for
California. They took the house
hold effects of their daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Larry Prock to their new home at
3310 Jackson Ave., South San
Gabriel.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Docktor
are living in the Cecil Thome
apartment. Mr. Docktor is teach
ing In the high school here and
will coach basketball.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halvorsen
and grandsons, Stephen and
Jerry Crippen of Medford visited
his brother and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen from Sat
urday until Tuesday. They at
tended the Rodeo and also the
water ski show.

Walton Lake In the Ochoco
Mountains for an outing. The
Walters family was on vacation
and they started home again

Karen spent from Tuesday to
Friday shopping and visiting in
Portland. Karen has just com
pleted a summer course at Pa
cific Lutheran University near
Tacoma. Her fiance, Frances
Stack, has been visiting at the
Lundell home, but has now gone
to his home in Big Sandy, Mon
tana to visit his family.
