HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Irrigon Alumni to Have By LaVELLE PARTLOW IRRIGON The annual Irrigon High school alumni reunion will be held at the old Irrigon school building Sunday afternoon, Aug ust 25. The school will be open at 12:00 noon to give time for visiting and meal preparation. The potluck meal will be serv ed at 1:30, with a program sched uled for 2:30. Included in the program will be a tour of the new A. C. Houghton Elementary school building. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Stewart, Sharon and Tommy and Mr3. Ruth McCoy drove to LaGrande Saturday, returning to Irrigon Sunday evening. While in La Grande, Mrs. McCoy stayed with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Stewart and child ren attended a 15th-year class reunion of Stewart's graduating class. The reunion consisted of a banquet held at the Sacajawea room Saturday evening, and a picnic the following afternoon at Red-Bridge State Park. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wanecek, Mickey, Frankie and Diane of Spokane spent Saturday through Wednesday in Irrigon visiting Mrs. Wanecek's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Graybeal. A Junior-Jamboree was held at the Hcrmiston Assembly of God church Friday evening for the junior Sunday School classes in the Assembly of God churches at Stanfield, Hcrmiston, Umatilla and Irrigon. Those attending from Irrigon were Anita and Donna Kay Fummel, Terri Scnn, Kay Huson, Vicky Hobbs, Diane Abererombio, Lonnie Wilson and Lee Huson. The children were ac companied by Mrs. Myrtle Mark ham, Mrs. Albert Parllow and Sheryl and Rev. and , Mrs. John Kenney. Following the potluck dinner, games were played. The evening ended with a Singsplr ation and a talk by Rev. Jerry Robeson of Umatilla. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stephens and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hill at tended the 25th wedding anni versary party for Mr. and Mrs. Jim Henderson at the Hender son's residence in Hcrmiston. Philip Gasser is spending two weeks in Dufur visiting with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Hanna. While In Dufur, Philip attended the Wasco County Fair at Tygh Valley. W. F. Coy substituted for Rev. George Hash in the Sunday morning services at the Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Abell of Inchelium, Wn., arrived in Irri gon Friday and stayed overnight with Mr. and Mrs. Rees Morgan, leaving for their home the next day. The Abells had been va cationing at Albuquerque, N. M. Mrs. Carl Russell and daugh ter Chris of The Dalles spent Wednesday through Sunday here visiting Mrs. Russell's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sanders, and also visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bent ley. Russell Joined his wife and daughter here over the week-end, and they went home Sunday evening. Mrs. Oma Collins and sons Freddy and Mike of San Martin, Calif., arrived in Irrigon Tuesday to spend some time with Mrs. Collins' folks, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Graybeal. Rees Morgan drove to Portland Tuesday to visit his brother, Enoch Morgan, who was recently discharged from St. Vincent's hospital. Earl Sanders was released from Good Shepherd hospital Wednes day after being a patient there for 2'a weeks. He is convalescing at his home. Miss Dianna Rosencrants left for her homo in Portland Mon day afternoon, after spending tw0 we'ks with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Partlow. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cooley re turned to Irrigon Saturday even ing after spending a week in Portland and on the coast. While in Portland they visited their son Bill, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mulkey and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bush and family. At Cannon Beach they visited Miss Martha Hoover, former Irrigon school teacher, and her mother. Cooleys spent one night at Seaside and dug clams the next morning. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Trimble of Oroville, Calif., spent Tuesday through Thursday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jorgensen, Bud and Don. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Have kost, formerly of Summerville spent a week here with Mrs. Havekost's sister, Mrs. Josie Bu chanan. The Havekosts recently purchased a home in Hermiston. Mrs. Rose Riggs and son Bobby of Couer d' Alene were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cooley Saturday night Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jorgensen attended a Justice of the Peace Conference held in Tillamook Thursday and Friday. The Irrigon Baptist church drove to Boardman following their Sunday evening service, and joined the Boardman Com munity church in a Singspiration. Following the song-fest, refresh ments were served by the host church. Council Approves Lighting Plan Ray Wooley and Russ Doran, representing Umatilla Electric Cooperative Association, m e t with the Irrigon City Council at their August council meeting to present a proposed pattern for street lighting through the City of Irrigon. The council studied the drawings which had been prepared, and voted unani mously to approve the proposed pattern. The plan must also be approved by the Oregon State Highway Department before the lights can be installed. The plan calls for 10 lights to be installed in a zig zag pattern on each side of the highway, and is the recommended lighting for medium highway traffic. Ordi nance No. 9, an Ordinance reg ulating the parking of trailer nouses and trailer coaehes with in the City of Irrigon and pro viding for license fees for trailer coach parks or camps, was read by title and passed unanimously. This Ordinance also repealed the former Trailer Ordinance No. 5.
