Of Devoted Service in Office
. By KATHERINE LINDSTROM
IONE With the resignation
of Mrs. Walter G. (Ruby) Roberts
this week as postmaster, lone

been most thoughtful. oromDt
and very accomodating in her
duties to all those in the com
munity who she served. Mrs. C.

years and during that time has
never had a sick leave. She has
accumulated 2,000 hours of time
off.
During Mrs. Robert's term of
office she has been robbed twice,
but neither time did the robbers
get a "haul." The first one was
caught, and the second time an
empty safe was carried away,
and was later recovered on a
little used road near town.

veteran, has been her assistant

bank for the first time In many
years. Mr. Roberts made his
tory when he took 1000 silver
dollars collected while on duty
in the post office, to the bank in
a wheelbarrow and opened one
of the first accounts.
Mr. and Mrs. Roberts will con
tinue at the post office for a
short while to assist Mrs. O'Con
nor, and she will also be instruc
ted by a "Key Postmaster," who
will visit the post office.
Past residents of the commun
ity will also miss "Ruby" with
her cheery smile, when they re
turn and drop In at the post
office to say "hello" or catch up
on some item of news.
Mrs. Roberts has been super
intendent of the Primary De
partment and also a primary
Sunday school teacher in the
lone Community church for
many years. She is a Past Mat
ron of Locust Chapter No. 119,
Order of the Eastern Star, and
