Rainbow Assembly Fetes Dads at Banquet By JUNE CHRISTOPHERSON Ph. 676-5322 IONE The lone Rainbow As sembly for Girls was host Tues day evening for the annual Ma sonic father and daughter ban quet. Members of the Rainbow board cooked the meal. The six boys who served were Leslie Madden, Dick Hynd, Steven Lindstrom, Rollie Ekstrom, Joe and Mark Halvorsen. Or. Cochran to Speak Dr. Earl Cochran will be guest speaker at the Sunday morning worship service at the lone Com munity church. Dr. Cochran is a retired Presbyterian minister from Pendleton. Mrs. Vida Heliker went to Glens Ferry, Idaho, to attend the 40th wedding anniversary on Sundav, March 17, of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. (Addie and Bill) Thompken. Thuy lived in the lone area until 1926 when they moved to Idaho. Their daughter, Mrs. Charles Perrish and family were in charge of the open house reception. A coffee hour was held last Friday at the home of Mrs. George Herman honoring Mrs. Gary TuRis and Mrs. Paul Petty john, Jr., on their birthdays. Those attending were Mrs. Cleo Childers and children, Mrs. Har old Sherer, Mrs. Lee Palmer and daughters, Mrs. Clell Rea Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn, Sr., Mrs. Marion Palmer, Mrs. John Jepsen, and the honored guests, Mrs. Petty john and Mrs. Tullis. Graveside services were held at the lone cemetery Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. for Teia Kay, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Portschy of Pilot Rock. Grandparints are Mr. and Mrs. Hershal rownsend and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Porlschy, Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. George Miller were in Sweet Home last week for a rock show. They continued on to Cannon Beach where they met her sinter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Roundy. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hams left last Friday for Dillon, Montana, where they attend Western Mon tana College Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bristow of Portland were week-end visitors in lone and Heppner. Mrs. Carol Morgan made a trip to Pendleton Wednesday for a medical chock-uo at the clinic. Frank Halvorsen was honored at a party Monday evening, Ap ril 1, on tne occasion of his 12th birthday. His entire class, except one, was present. Also attend ing was Carl Smouse. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Marick moved to Condon over the week-end, where they are now making thir home. Mr. and Mrs. Shorty Schaffer of Condon were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Nich ols. Mrs. Clifford Aldrich took Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jannsen and children to Grass Valley on Fri day, wheiv the Jannsens remain ed until Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. George Fichter went to Pr'neville last week to visit their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hicks. Paanuta Judy Schmidt Makes Honor Roll at EOC Judy Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schmidt of Heppner, was one of 65 students at Eastern Oregon College to be placed on the scholastic honor roll for winter term at the college, Dr. Lyle H. Johnson, reg istrar, announces. It is necessary to make a grade point average of 3.50 or above to attain the honor ranking. Miss Schmidt is a freshman in elementary education. Mr and Mrs. Adrain Bechdolt Health Department Offers Vaccination Certificate Service For the information of those people who are planning a trip to countries outside the U.S.A., the International Certificates of Vaccination are now available from the offices of Morrow Coun ty Health Department located in the Morrow county courthouse, according to Velma Glass, county health nurse. A certificate will be mailed to anyone who requests it or a copy may be obtained by calling at the office between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. The certificates are to be sign ed by the physician giving the vaccination andor immunization and then must be returned to the Health Department to be stamped with the official U.S. Department of Health Education and Welfare stamp in order to be valid. were in Pendleton on business, Saturday.
