The ladies pinochle club met at the home of Mrs. Florence McMillan on Friday afternoon. Those playing were Mrs. A. F. Majeske, Mrs. Florence McMil lan, Mrs. Merle Cornelison, and Mrs. Charles Colley. Lee Colley of Casa Grande, Ariz., has been spending some time with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colley, he is em ployed in spraying in Morrow county. Mrs. Bertha Hunt spent the week-end in Portland where she visited Mrs. Francis McMillan, Miss Dona Barnett and Mrs. Trannie Parker. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mounts of Maupin and son Steve visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Majeske over the week-end and celebrated Steve's birthday. Oth er dinner guests on Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majeske and children. Word has been received in Lex ington that Mr. and Mrs. Mike Griffith and baby son are pat ients in the Columbia Basin hos pital in Ephrata suffering from injuries received in a three car accident near Ephrata a couple of weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones and Mrs. Florence McMillan motored to Rufus Sunday taking the children of Mr. and Mrs. George Irvin home after spring vacat ion spent in Lexington. Mrs. Armin Wihlon spent the week-end visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers in Coun cil, Idaho. Richard Wihlon of Louisville, Ky. has arrived in Lexington where he is employed at Gar Aviation. His wife and children will join him soon. Rev. and Mrs. Walter Smith and children motored to Yakima, Wn., last week, taking Mrs. Smith's mother, Mrs. Delmar Wo dell to her home there. Rev. and Mrs. Philip Ryan of John Day were Saturday guests at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Walter Smith. Mrs. Ryan is a sister of Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt and children Norita, Billie June and Philip were Spokane, Wn. visitors last week. Mrs. Vernon Munkers is va cationing in Arizona with a sis ter, her daughter and family, and otner relatives. Carroll Messenger, Pendleton, visited spring vacation with his sisters and families, Mr. and Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marquardt. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Messen ger and family and Carroll Messenger visited Sunday after noon with Robert Hughes who is recuperating in the Community hospital in Pendleton from burns recently received. Rev. and Mrs. Walter Smith and daughters spent Sunday at Walla Walla, Wn., where they visited Whitman Mission sight. Lexington HEC met at the home of Mrs. Wilbur Steagall last Thursday for their regular meeting. The meeting was pre sided over by the chairman, Mrs. Armin Wihlon. Those present were Mrs. Ella Burgoyne, Mrs. Kenneth Smouse, Mrs. Nora' Turner, Mrs. Edna Turner, -Mrs. Karl Miller, Mrs. Ola Ruggjfc, Mrs. Fearl Devine, Mrs. Steag all and Mrs. Wihlon. Next meet ing is scheduled for Mrs. Wih lon's home, with Mrs. Karl Mil ler as co-hostess. Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Cutsforth and family and houseguest, Da vid Clark, spent the spring va cation at White Pass, Wn., where they enjoyed some fine skiing. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hunt were Lewiston, Ida. visitors on baturday. Guest speaker was Mrs. Effie Ritchy who showed slides of the International Women's Conven tion in Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Olive Hughes, Mrs. Etta D. Park er, both of Heppner, and Mrs. Melvina Wodell of Yakima, Wn., were out-of-town guests. Election of officers was jheld with the following taking of fices: Mrs. C. C. Jones, chairman; Mrs. Walter Smith, vice chair man; Mrs. Alonzo Henderson, secretary; Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt, treasurer, and Mrs. Carl Mar quardt, devotional chairman. It was announced that the remain ing three doors needed to finish the church had been donated. Dessert dishes, salt and pepper shakers and creamers and sugar bowls will be ordered for the kitchen. Others present besides the elected officers were Mrs. Effie Ritchey of Milton-Freewater and her daughter, Mrs. Roberta John son, Mrs. Bertha Hunt, Mrs. Flor ence McMillan, Mrs. Floyd Smith, Mrs. Roy Campbell and Mrs. Gerald Messenger. Park Committee Appointed Lexington Three Links club met at the home of Mrs. Armin Wihlon on Thursday, March 14, with the chairman, Mrs. Wihlon presiding. A committee was ap pointed to start work on the planned park project. On the committee kre Mrs. Archie Mun kers, Mrs. alonzo Henderson and Mrs. C. C. Jones. Plans for the Smorgasbord dinner and the coming card party of April 6 were discussed. Birthday cake, honoring Mrs. Edward Hunt was served. Those attending were Mrs. Joe Yocom, Mrs. Charlie Padberg, Mrs. Vic Groshens Jr., Mrs. Oris Padberg, Mrs. Florence McMillan, Mrs. Al Fctsch, Mrs. Earl Warner, Mrs. A. F. Ma jeske, Mrs. Art Keene, Mrs. Ed ward Hunt, Mrs. Alonzo Hender son, Mrs. C. C. Jones and the hostess, Mrs. Wihlon. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yocom and children spent a recent week end in Pilot Rock and Pendle ton. Keith Peck, who is stationed in Fort Lewis, Wn., is home on a 30 day leave and is employed at the Lexington Airport. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones and son Kenneth were in Milton Freewater on business recently. Waide and Pearl Sawyer of Pen dleton returned home with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Clark and son of Corvallis visited at the home of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Messenger on March 17. Mr. and Mrs. Newt O'Harra are now at Tuscon, Ariz., where they will remain for several days. fcugene sawyer ol Portland was an overnight visitor at the Kenneth Klinger home last Mon day night. The high school class of the Lexington Christian church en joyed an evening of skating at Kennewick, Wn., Friday, March 15. They were accompanied by their teacher, Carl Marquardt. Mr. and Mrs. George Irvin and children o( Rufus were recent week-end visitors at the Flor- ence McMillan and Cecil Jones homes. Mr. and Mrs. Max Breeding of Portland visited his mother, Mrs. Lola Breeding recently. Mrs. Lola Breeding returned to her home last week for a few weeks before her departure to Louis iana where she will visit rel atives. Jean Grant of Mosier ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Breed ing to Lexington to visit her grandmother. Mrs. Clarence Hays and daugh ter Candiss were visitors at the home of Mrs. Hays' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warner the week end of March 16. Mrs. Warner returned home with them to Cor vallis for a short visit, and on to Portland where she visited her son and family, Mr. andi Mrs. Vernon Warner. Walt Wallace has been visit ing with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Wallace, at Pocatello, Idaho.
