HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, February 14. 1963 Court Proceedings County Court met In regular session on Jan. 2, 1963. The min utes of the Dec. term were read and approved. The jury oanel for the year 1963 was drawn and posted in the Clerk's office. The County Court recommend ed replacing the Fair Bldgs. at Boardman, provided the resi dents of Boardman provide the land. The following appointments were made: Margaret Troedson, lone, Hospital Board; Faye Mun kers, Lexington, Hospital Board; Paul Slaughter, Irrigon, Budget Committee; L. D. Tibbies, D. O., Physician; Orville Cutsforth, Lexington, Fair Board; Roy Lindstrom, lone, Paul Brown, Heppner, and Clarence Rosewall, Heppner, County Planning Com mittee. The Heppner Gazette-Times was declared the official news paper of the County. Union Oil was awarded the bid for Diesel Fuel Oil; Standard Oil Co., Gasoline and Lub. Oil. Paul Slaughter was permitted to place a culvert acroes County Road. The Court allowed $175.00 per mo. for part time help in the Tax Collection office, and set the salary of the Assess. Off. Clerk at $275.00 per mo. The Court ruled that all claims turned in for payment must be fully itemized. The County Court is to have a dog pound erected. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Rill and children visited relatives in Elgin over the week-end. Bob Irby, a graduate of Hep- per High school last year, is now enrolled in the Northwestern School of Commerce, Portland, where he is taking a junior ac counting course, lie started his studies at the business college January 7, and is living at th YMCA in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Harshman, Dayton, Wn visited relatives here over the week-end. Our lead er is Mrs. Rachel Harnett. Mar cia Jones was a visitor. Our offi cers are Christy Watkins, presi dent; Karen Blake, vice presi dent; Barbara Payne, secretary; Susan Chally, news reporter, and Pam Hughes, song leader. We chose for our club name, the "Purl-divers." We met again February 1 at Mrs. Harnett's house, with all officers present except Pam Hughes and Barbara Payne. Dues were discussed and decided that when we needed money we would bring it. Another meeting was planned for February 14 at Susan Chal lj 'fa home.
