Named to the honor roll for the second nine weeks were nine SOS V f? fir V students having a GPA of 3.25 and above. In the senior class were Louise Pointer, 3.60, and Tass Morrison, 3.33. , Junior honor students were Tom Heimbigner, 4.0; Arleta Mc Cabe, 3.83; Judy Sherer, 3.83, and Merrie Jo Morrison, 3.60. One sophomore, Cheryl Lun dell, attained a 4.0. Two freshman honor students were Cherilyn Smouse, 4.0, and Karen Hams, 3.66. Four students received honor able mention for CPAs of be tween 3-0 and 3.249. Rod MacKenzie will be on a pulpit exchange Sunday, February 10, when he will be guest speaker at the Condon Community Congrega tional church. He and Mrs. Mac Kenzie will be guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Mercer of Condon for dinner after the services. Preaching at the lone Com munity church on this Sunday will be Rev. Harvey Goodling, Condon. Rev. and Mrs. Goodling will be dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Biehl. Rev. Goodling is Interim pastor in Condon while Rev. Randy Middleton is attending the Pa cific School of Religion in Berk ely, Calif, for a year. Rev. Good ling has just retired from 27 years pastorate at the Evangel ical and Reformed church In Portland, the largest of its kind in Oregon. Mrs. Gil Lujan and Mrs. Rod MacKenzie will be hostesses to the lone Bridge club when it meets at the home of Mrs. Mac Kenzie Thursday night, Febru ary 7 at 8:00 p.m. lone Grade school basketball teams will play Heppner grade school at lone Friday, February 8, in the lone High school gym. Game time is 1:30 p.m. lone PTA will meet Wednes day, February 13 at 8:00 p.m. at the high school cafetorlum. After supper the moderator, Bob Jep sen, introduced guests and then explained that a special finance committee for the church bud get had been formed to plan ways to raise funds to meet the budget, Mr. Jepsen then Intro duced the secretary of this com mittee, Mrs. Glenn Biehl. She told of plans for an auction sale to be held on Saturday, June 8, to Jielp raise these funds. The committee is asking that people of the community save articles of any type for this sale. They will take anything from nuts and bolts, clothes and furniture to farm machinery, Members of this special com mittee are Mrs. Gary Tullis, chairman; Mrs. Glenn Biehl, sec retary; Mrs. Norman Nelson, Mrs, David Rietmann, Mrs. Jack Barak, Mrs. Bill Rietmann, Fred Martin, John Jepsen, Omar Riet mann, Bob Jepsen, Rev, Rod MacKenzie and Mrs. David Ba ker. Anyone having articles to donate, or any questions please contact any member of this com mittee, After the meeting there was a movie shown on the merger of the Congregati o n a 1 and Christian churches with the Evangelical and Reformed churches to form the United Church of Christ. The Arnica club met Wednes day, January 16, at the home of Mrs. Gil Lujan. There was an election of officers with Mrs. John R. Krebs elected president; Mrs. Joe Hausler, vice-president; Mrs. Harold Snider, secretary treasurer, and Mrs. Glenn Biehl, Mrs. Lee Palmer, and Mrs. Arnie Hedman, flower committee. Maranatha club will meet at the home of Mrs. Fred Nelson Wednesday, February 13. A pro gram on Christian Education and Family Life will be given by Mrs. Gary Tullis. Seniors Win Clothing Drive The lone High school students have Just completed a World Clothing Fund Drive. The win ning class was the senior class with a total of 270 lbs. of cloth ing collected, Junior class was second with 102 lbs., and the sophomores were third with 85 lbs, A movie sponsored by the Nat ional School Assemblies was shown to the first four grades and the high school at the lone high school Tuesday, February 5. The movie was called "Nature in Your Back Yard," by Bucky Reeves and showed in color, close-up pictures of butterflies, spiders, and other small ani mals. At the Student Council meet ing held in the lone high school Tuesday, February 5, it was de cided to have a March of Dimes contest between the boys and the girls to see who could raise the most money for the March of Dimes Drive. It will run from February 11 to February 25. s v 7A LT. GERALD WHITE Lt. White Gets Silver Wings Second Lieutenant Gerald G. White of lone has been awarded the silver wings of a United States Air Force navigator fol lowing his graduation from nav igator training at James Connal ly Air Force Base, Texas. Lieutenant White, Who holds a B. A. degree from Willamette University, Salem, received radar and celestial navigation train ing in Air Force T-29 "Flying Classroom" aircraft. He is being reassigned to Mather AFB, Calif. The lieutenant, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Gordon White of lone.
