Boardman Holds 2nd Flu Clinic Bv MARY LEE MARLOW BOARDMAN A total of 70 flu shots were given at the second clinic held here at the school last week. This, together with the 30 shots given about a week before, made 100 shots, which was a lot less than the first clinic, when a total of 226 shots were given. Mrs. Earl Briges was in Port land last week visiting at the home of her son and daughter in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Max well. Her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Campbell and daughter Jeanne, were also there and are leaving for Guam to join Campbell. Mrs. Briggs also visited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. ana Mrs. C. C. Carnegie. Mr. and Mrs. Arnin Hug re turned home last week from a month's stay at Laguna Beach, Calif. While there they also went to Phoenix, Ariz, to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Brown, former residents here. Also visiting there were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fussell of Apache Junc tion, Ariz., also former residents here. Ed Benthin returned home from St. Anthony's hospital in Pendleton last Thursday where he was in traction for a week for his back. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Smith of Sunny Valley, and Mrs. Steve Sullivan of Langlois were over night visitors at the home ot their brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, last week on their way to La Grande to visit their father, Paul Smith of Union, who is in the hospital there. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Taylor and children Nickki Jean, Terry and Jamie Lou, and Toni Taylor all of Portland were week-end visi tors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Algy Taylor, coming here for the wedding of Bob Taylor and Andrea Mechow in Hermiston Sunday. She was also a recent guest at a members luncheon of tho Arlington Womens club at the Methodist church in Arlinj- ton. To Study Money Management The Home Extension unit met Monday of last week at the home of Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, with Mrs. Bernard Donovan as co-hostess. Subject was "Buying ready to wear," with Mrs. Jim Harper and Mrs. h. m. wamer as leaders. The unit will have a four week course in "money management" starting Jan. 28, to be held eacn Monday night at the Irrigon school at 8 p. m. ine iirst weeK s subject will be "How to make a farm v sDendincr plan. teo. 4 meeting will be "Wise use of credit." Feb. 11 will be "Family stake and Social Security." There will be a Social Security repre sentative present. The last one Feb. 18 will be "What about savings and investments." These meetings are for both men and women, and all couples are urced to attend. The next regular meeting of tho unit will be at the home of Mrs. Walker Feb. 19. Subject will be "Facing widowhood," with Mrs. Thorpe and Mrs. Arthur Allen leaders. In the fu ture all meetings will start at 10:30 a. m., and alter lunch win reconvene at 1 p. m.
