McEllieott Administrator 42-46c Final Rites Held For Owen Cork, 61 By MARTHA MATTESON (Held over from last week) MONUMENT Funeral serv ices for Owen Cork, 61, formerly of Monument and uncle of Jack Sweek, were Wednesday, Decem ber 12, in the Chapel of Mt. Scott Funeral Home, Portland, with interment in the Rose City cemetery. Mr. Cork had been a mechanic for Halton Tractor Co. He was born in Iowa in 1901. Surviving are his wife, Clarrissa; a son Gregory; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Robbins of Bend and Mrs. Myrtle Shockley of Estacada; sis ters, Mrs. Earl Sweek, Ridge field, Wn, Hilda Cork, and brothers, Clayton, Orlan, Darroll and Glen Cork, and eight grand children. Frank Elder and L. D. Vinson have been working on the new rodeo grounds during the past week. Mr. and Mrs. George Stirritt and Mr. and Mrs. Fred McWillis drove to Kimberly Friday after noon. Mr. and Mrs, Milton Morgan, Mrs, Georgette Morgan, Mary Lippert, Mrs. George Lyles, and Maynara Hamilton were an in Heppner Thursday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matteson were business caller In Long Creek on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack torrest and Mrs. Lynn Forrest drove to John Day Thursday to visit Mr. For rest who is in the hospital there. Elmer Matteson is tearing down the old house on the Ben Spain ranch. Donald Mclnnes and tamiiy are moving from the Waller ranch on Rodeo Creek to one of the mill houses here in town which now belongs to L. L. Flowers. Mrs. Fred Shanks spent two weeks in California, and while there she attended the wedding of her niece. Mrs. Ivy Barnard went to John Day Monday to visit her sister, Mrs. Ellie Durst, who Is a pat ient there in the hospital. Miss Dina Rae Stirewalt be came the bride Sunday of James Bruce Epley in the Monument gym. A reception followed. In the Legion-Grange hall. Maynard Hamilton has finish ed trimming his large Christ mas tree that grows in his front yard. Melugin Sentenced On Hunting Charge Paul Melugin, 22, The Dalles, was fined $100 and sentenced to three months in the county jail when he pleaded guilty Dec. 17 before acting Justice of the Peace Larry Cook to a charge nf nooliopnt woundins of an other. The jail sentence was sus pended upon payment oi me fine. Melugin also forfeited his hunting license and may not ap ply for a new license for a per iod of 10 years. Melugin was cnargea wun accidentally shooting and wounding Grant Leroy Powell, 25 miles southeast of Heppner on a hunting trip November 10.
