Thursday, December 20. 1962 December Wedding Set Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn Sr., of lone, announce the en gagement and approaching mar' riage of their daughter, Dianna Lea, to Vester Wayne Hams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vester- Hams of lone. Both young people are 1962 graduates of lone High school Miss Pettyjohn has been attend ing Eastern Oregon College at La Grande, and Mr. Hams Is a student at Western Montana State college at Dillon, Mont., where he will continue his studies after the marriage. The date of Sunday, Decem ber 30, has been set for the wedding. Vows will be ex changed at 4M) p.m. at the lone Community church, with all friends and relatives extended an invitation to attend the cer emony and the reception follow ing. TODAYI Sans Souci Lodge Joins Odd Fellows For Christmas Party Sans Souci Rebekah Lodge No. 33 will meet December 21. After regular routine of lodge work a Christmas party is planned with the Oddfellows joining in for the gift exchange. Noble Grand Jane i'ayne also plans to honor those members having birthdays in the last three months of the year. At the December 7 meeting r ruciy caseneer was elected Vice urand tor the coming year. In stallation oi new otiicers was briefly discussed with a tenea live date set for January 5 if aggreeable with the Oddfellows, as these lodges always hold joint installation. After the meeting seve r a 1 brother Oddfellows joined in on a hobo party with chief hobo, Mattie Green, engineering a pro gram, after which she served stew from tin cups. John Wightman displayed the electric clock presented by the Elks lodge. This will ge a most welcome addition to the lodge hall. Heppner Unit Holds Christmas Party A large group met at the home of Mrs. Riley Munkers last Tuesday for the Heppner Exten sion unit's Christmas party. Favorite recipes were ex changed and each member brought along her project of the moment which included knitting, Christmas candy, and a candy wreath. Another project for the day was the making of marble jewelry which involves "frying" the marbles and cooling them quickly. This causes them to crack inside making interesting designs. At noon they enjoyed a pot luck dinner and listened to Christmas carols which included the record made by Marvin Sow- ard, son of Rev. and Mrs. Earl Soward. Everyone brought gifts and they exchanged them dur ing the afternoon. Mrs. Ola Rug gles won the Dutch auction which was sent by Mrs. Wavel Wilkinson, Christmas dceorations were used about the rooms in keep ing with the holiday theme. Those attending were Mrs. Bill Heath, Mrs. R. G. Watkins, Mrs. Bud Peck, Mrs. John Lane, Mrs. Robert Cossitt, Mrs. Ray Drake, Mrs. Nora Turner, Mrs. Edna Turner, Mrs. Lee Scrivner, Mrs. Joe Wright, Mrs. Frank Connor, Mrs. Creston Robinson, BOWLING BITS By JO PETTYJOHN BOWLING KEEPS moving right along. The men's league concluded the first half of play Monday night and will not play again until January 7 when they begin the second half. The women's leagues have two games left in the first half, Wed nesday of this week and Wed nesday, January 2- The first four top teams are only five games apart from first place to fourth piace so anything can still hap pen. PADBERG MACHINERY had i good night last Wednesday as it whacked second place Burns Mortuary all four games to drop Burns into tilth place while Pad berg moved from fifth to fourth. Couple Exchanges Marriage Vows n Colorful Ceremony LEXINGTON Novem b e r 17 was the date chosen by Miss Deanna Steagall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Steagall of Lexington tor her marriage to Roger Dean Brandhagen of Pen dleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brandhagen. The wed ding was solemnized in the St, Williams Catholic church in lone with the double ring ceremony Dexter Miles To Wed In Montana Dec. 30 LEXINGTON Plans are being made for the coming wedding of Miss Corinne M. Siggelkow of Scobey, Mont., to Dexter Miles, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dunbar of Lexington. The wedding and reeeDtinn tn follow is set for Sunday, Decem ber 30, at Trinity Lutheran church in Scobey, Mont. The young counle will make their home in Lexington at the Turner ranch and Mr. Miles will be employed at the Barclay ranch. Mrs. Gone Ferguson and grand daughter, Cathy Zintor, Mrs. Bill Cox, and Mrs. Ruggles. dual series of 456 which is third high of all the teams for the week. Turner, Van Marter, and Bryant also had a winning night, taking all four from Echo Meat Market and moved from fourth to third still only 12 game above Padberg. Earlene Miller had high series of the two teams with a 426 and Vesta Kilkenny had the game high of the two teams of 171. As for MCGG, they bowled, but not good enough as they lost all four to second place Sheets Clothing. Not mentioning any names, but the game high for MCGG was a 128, so really an interesting night. The team remains in sixth place. There's always another night! Kenny Turner, of Bi County, decided he needed to do something as he couldn't hit those pins so he daubed ud his fingers with the bowling "stick- urn only to hit lour strikes in a row! Wonder if that would solve all the bowling problems? Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore white sat in with fitted bodice, scoop neck line, three quarter sleeves and full length skirt, caught with a Dior rose at the back waist and falling into a brush train. Her Dutteniy veil was held by a cas cade of white roses and stephon atis. Matron of honor was Mrs. Greg Leyva of Medford, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Howard Crowell of lone, and Mrs. Jerry Dougherty of Lexington, sisters of the bride, and Miss Marcia Bunnell of Pendleton, a cousin of the groom. They wore daring red colored taffeta with short sleeves and bell skirts caught at the back with a Dior rose like that of the bride. They wore matching headbands and carried white carnations combin ed with small silver Christmas balls on pine branches. Best man was James Thorne of Pendleton. Ushers were Bill Steagall, brother of the bride; Jay Brandhagen, brother of the groom; Glen Walker and Jerry Dougherty. Nuptial music was played by Mrs. Dave Baker of lone. The re ception followed in the church social hall with decorati o n s carrying out the holiday theme in red and silver against pine. The four tiered cake was iced in white with red accents and each tier was separated by a brandy snifter filled with pine and silver balls with a smaller snifter topping the cake. Cutting and serving were Mrs. John Welch of Portland and Mrs. F. J. Thorne of Pendleton. Pouring were Mrs. J. D. Bun nell of Pendleton, aunt of the groom, and Mrs. Emma Bre shears, grandmother of the bride. Serving punch were Mrs. Bob Steagall and Judy Welch of Port land. Assisting at the buffet table were Mrs. Alex Lindsey and Mrs. William Doherty. In charge of the reception and assisting about the rooms were Mrs. B. J. Doherty. Mrs. Don Pointer and Mrs. Bob Davidson. Following a wedding trip to the coast the couple is now at home in Pendleton. The groom is employed at Kerns Furniture Company in Pilot Rock.
