Death Toll Down
Oregon's traffic death toll for
the first six months of 1962 is
down almost 19 over a sim
ilar period forlast year, accord
ing to the Oregon Department of
Motor Vehicles.
Through the end of June, 189
traffic fatalities were recorded
this year, as opposed to 232 in
1961. The month-by-month toll
for the current year shows 32
persons died in January; 29 in
February; 31 in March; 27 in
April; 35 in May; and 35 in
June.
During the three month period
of April to June, 1962, not a
single pedsetrian death was re
corded in the state. In the same
period last year, 13 pedestrians
were killed. The death-free per
iod tor pedestnons set an un
precedented mark in Oregon's
traffic record.
