Main Ph. 676-94.32 Griffin-Leo Wedding Calls Local People To Portland June 30 The wedding of Miss Nina Griffin to Harvey Leo was solem nized June 30 at the Kern Park Christian church in Portland. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Griffin, Beaverton, and granddaughter of Mrs. Jessie Griffin, Heppner. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Leo of Portland. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white lace with fingertip veil held in place by a tiara of white pearls. She wore a bracelet and matching ring of gold and jade given her by the groom's mother and worn by her grandmother. She carried a single white orchid with pink rosebuds and stephan otis with cascade of pink ribbon streamers. Her sister, Mrs. Virginia Cal dera, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaid was Mrs. Lavon Stark. Both attendants chose pink sheath dresses topped with lace ovnrskirts with matching accessories. Best man was Westley Lee and head usher David Stoner, both wearing pink dinner jackets. Ushers were btanley Cox and Richard Wong. Mikel David Wong served as ring bearer and Debby Maureen Wont? as flower girl. Candle lighters were Norman Phillip Griffin and Claudia June Noland. Mother of the bride wore a blue sheath with white acces sories, and the groom's mother chose a light orchid dress of lace with matching accessories. Both the bride's grandmothers, Mrs. Jessie Griffin and Mrs. Louie Peters, wore blue. Serving at the reception were Mrs. Nina Case, who cut the cake, Mrs. Lorna Borman, Mrs. Agnes Wong and Mrs. Vivian Wong, who poured. Passing the guest book was Carol Burkenbine. Attending from Heppner were Mrs. Griffin, Stanley Cox, Mrs. Nina Case and daughters Carol, Joyce and Claudia, and Mrs. Richard Borman. After a wedding trip to Calif ornia, the young couple will live in Portland where she works for the Janlzen Knitting Mills and he is employed with the Port land Police department as a lith ographic printer. Housewarming Party Honors E. Palmers Rhea Creek erange members and friends honored Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Palmer with a house- warming party at their new home at Eightmile Saturday evening. They were given a spinning wheel planter from the grange for their home. Some thirty guests were present to enjoy visiting. Re freshments of coffee and pie a la mode were served. Hostesses in charge were Mrs. Walter Wright, Mrs. Harold Wright, and Mrs. John Graves. Drive so your driver's license expires before you do. Couple Say Vows In Pretty Summer Ceremony June 24 IONE JoAnn Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gaarsland of lone, became the bride of Michael Wayne Chase, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Chase of Riverside in Pendleton Sunday, June 24. The wedding was solemnized at 11:30 a.m. ta All Saints' Epis copal church, Heppner, with Father C. Bruce Spencer reading the ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white street length nylon chiffon dress, with matching jacket. She wore a white hat, white accessories, and carried a white lace covered Bible with a white orchid and green ivy. The maid of honor. Miss Judy Morgan of lone, wore a pink taffeta street length dress and carried a basket of pink and white carnations. The bride's mother wore a floral colored dress with white accessories, and the mother of the groom chose a blue and white dress with white acces sories. Best man was George Portschy of Pendleton. The home of the bride's par ents in lone was the scene of the wedding reception, which was held on the lawn. The bride and groom cut the first piece of cake, and was then served by Carol Palmer. Mrs. Levi McPhearson served the punch and Mrs. Eulenna Cor ley, aunt of the bride served the coffee. Elaine Gaarsland, sister of the bride, took care of the guest book and the gift table. The couple is at home at 1101 West Shoshone, Apt. 2. in Pasco, Wn following a wedding trip to the Oregon coast. Party Greets Friends Of Cathy Jo Sherman Playmates of Cathy Jo Sher man, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Sherman, greeted her on her seventh birthday Monday, July 9, when they were invited to her home to share the happy occasion. After the traditional cake, dixie cups, favors and opening of gifts, they joined in playing favorite games. Invited were Beverly Pheglev, Janet Gentry, Tracy Niorene, Peggy and Christie Taylor, Susan Phegley and Ann Burken bine. Her brother, Jim, helped in entertaining the guesrs.
