The tables were decorated in the spring mour and May Day bas kets were used as centerpieces. Mrs. Lewis Ball and Mrs. Bill Nichols held a no host dinner partv at the home of Mrs. Ball on Friday evening of last week. It was given in honor of Bill Nichols, Linda Nichols, Wayne can, ouuuy can ana Mrs. Donald Ball who had observed birthdays during this past week. Mrs. Swanson Returns Home Mrs. Mary Swanson has re turned to her home following an extended convalescance at the home of her son, Gar. Mrs. Elmo McMillan is staying with her for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lundell and family of Pendleton visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lundell on Sunday. They also called at homes of other local relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Morgan's in fant son is confined to the Hepp ner hospital in fair condition followine a flare up of infection, It is planned to return him to Doernbecher s hospital in Port land as soon as possible for fur ther treatment if necessary The City Council members sprayed the city park this past week for weeds. Attend Portland Follies Among the Ionians attending the Ice Follies in Portland this Dast week-end were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Palmateer and family; Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson and lam ilv: Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rietmann and family; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rietmann and Mark and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Rietmann. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sherer and family visited in Odessa, Wn., this past week-end with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bart- lamay. Harold Sherer and daughter Judy motored to Redmond this Dast week-end to bring Mrs. Sherer home. She has been stay ing with Mx. and Mrs. Wayne Pierce following Mrs. Pierce's re turn from the hospital with their new daughter, Robyn Kay, tnis last week. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nichols ana familv visited - in Heppner on Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Munkers Also visiting with the Munkers were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Angei ana family of Portland, former Hepp nerites, who were there for the week-end. Mrs. Omar Rietmann and Mrs. Ida Coleman were in Portland over the week-end to attend a S.R.D convention of Tops Clubs at the Sheraton Hotel. They also took in the Ice Follies on Sunday while there. Both Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Rietmann were nouse guests of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Crawford. Linda Williams stayed with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Gaarsland while Mrs. Coleman was away. Seniors, Parents Take Trip Eleven tired but excited sen iors and eight weary parents returned to lone on Monday fol lowing p week-end skip day trip for the graduating seniors of lone High school. They left lone b" car on Friday afternoon at about 1:30 p. m. Parents of sen iors, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvor son, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Petty john, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan, and class advisor and Mrs. Joe Hausler made the trip. Thev spent the night in Portland after attending the Ice Follies that evening. A grand time was reported with everyone enjoying ! the sights. The group came back through Portland where they made a stop at the zoo to see Packy, the baby elephant. School Stages Banquet, Prom Last month highlients of the lone High school have included several social functions. On April 27 the annual banquet was held in honor oi tne graduating class. Out of town guests for the occasion Included Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Shockley of Vancouver, Wn., and Father Raymond Beard of Heppner, Also present was Rev. Rod MacKenzie of the lone Commun ity church, along with all the teachers and parents of the sen ior class, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeSpain. The Junior-Senior banquet was followed on Saturday eveninsr by the Prom. The Theme "South Pacific," was used, Linda Halvor- sen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen was crowned queen of the prom and Kenneth Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allred Nelson, Jr., was her king. iaKe (iuiaea Seattle Tour Mr, and Mrs. Marion Palmer, Mrs. Cecil Thome and Mrs. Fred Herman returned last week from a weeks visit with a guided tour to Seattle to attend the World's Fair. The Ionians joined 34 other guests from the Pendleton area on the tour, which took them to many points of interest throueh- out Seattle and the fair. They also enjoyed a boat trip on Puget Sound. The weather man was good to them through most of the trip and added to their en joyment. Mrs. Alvin McCabe will host the lone Willows Grange Home Economics club on Thursday, May 17, at her home in Heppner, which is located in the basement apartment of the Heppner clinic. ine regular date has been changed due to election day. Everyone is invited to attend the afternoon meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jannsen were Sunday visitors in lone. Mr. and Mrs. Jannsen were here on business and reported that his father Gus is still confined to the hospital In ,The Dalles. His condition is improving, but is uncertain how much longer he will be confined to the hos pital. Mrs. Lee Palmer accompanied her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lin coin Nash of Heppner to Port land on Saturday for a shopping inp in connection with the com ing marriage of her sister, Shir ley. Mrs. Jim Barnett returned home from the Heppner hospital this past week-end following a serious illness. Her condition is improving steadily. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mason of Prinevllle, visited recently with his sisters, Mrs. Clara Kincaid and Mrs. Mable Cotter. Gun Club Plans Trip This is a reminder to all 4-H gun club members in the lone area.
