Oregon Farm Net Income For 1961 Averages $2,418 Caught between rising costs and lower prices, Oregon farms realized an average net income of $2,418 last year, 18 per cent less man tne year Delore, accord ing to Mrs. Elvera Horrell. Ore gon State University extension agricultural economist. Oregon farmers, .along with those in most western states, re ceived less money for their pro duce last year while costs went up, Mrs. Horrell said. Only Ari zona, New Mexaco and Wyom ing in the West had net incomes per farm over 1960. Cash receipts from farm mark etings in Oregon totaled nearly $393 million for 1961, 5 per cent less than in I9bu, she noted. Bas ing her survey on U. S. Depart ment of Agriculture reuorts and other information, the economist said that just over half the total receipts came from crop sales, whila livestock and live stock products made up the rest. Government payments in 1961 added another $10.4 million to the cash intake, about $1.6 mil lion more than in 1960. Although dollar figures aren't yet available, preliminary USDA reports show that higher costs more than offset a lower feed bill and a decrease in depreciat ion and net rent.
