The 411 member con ducted the service. Presiding was Stephen Llnd strum, with organist, Mrs. Fred Martin, and pianist, Arlcts Mc CiIh furnishing the music. Koland Ekstrom cave the wet tome; Hobby Lee UrSpaln cave the 4 II Invocation, followed Dy the Lord Prayer and the Gloria Pntrl. The 4 II choir, consisting of various memiHTs of the com munltlrs' 4 II club, and rnnduc ted bv Mrt Norman Nelson, sane "Lord I Want to Be a Christian." A prayer by Cheryl Corley was "iven, preceding the doxology. During the offering "Ava Maria" was played In the background. I'shers were Joe Hauslcr, Jim Jacobs, Virgil Morgan and Jay Hall. Mrs. Kenneth Smouse honored the congregation with a violin solo accompanied on the piano by her daughter, Cherolyn. She told the assembly that over 4iK) Morrow county children are participating In 4-H work. She also expressed the fact that church work and activity also played a vital part In helping to mold our 4-H youngsters. It is the child that should strive to win a blue ribbon, not the project. She went on to say It is far better to see a blue rib bon youngster and a red ribbon project, than a blue ribbon pro ject and a red ribbon child. Attend Pendleton Tournament Many from the lone commun ity attended the basketball tournament in Pendleton during Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Congratulations to the lone Cardinals for winning fourth place. Also thanks to the tram Doline artists for representing our schools so well. Many com pliments were heard on the fine performances given. The lone community was wen represented at the telephone meeting held in Lexington on Monday evening. Several door prizes were won by Ionians. to 42 triumph over Weston in 1 the finals. Weston had downed its eastern division cohort. Me L'wen, In the second round. The Cardinals had little trouble with Spray in the Frl day afternoon game of the enn solation, winning 63-40. The lone five Jumped to a 13-6 lead. was ahead 25-20 at the half and was never threatened through out the balance of the game. Leonard Keller was the main thorn in the flesh for lone as he pumped In 24 points, more than equalling the rest of his team's output. Crabtree again was high for lone with 18, fol lowed by Rollie Ekstrom with 16. Two more, Wayne Hams with 13, and Tom Pointer with 10. were In double figures. In at. Joseph. Coach Glenn Biehl's squad found a much tougher team than the one they had defeated twice before this season. The Bluelays were a astly Improved ball club, and the Cards had to fight down to the wire to take it. They had only a two point lead with four minutes to play, but lone live stiffened and pulled away with a last minute spurt for the 55-46 victory. Haiftime score showed the Cards in front only by two, 24-22, and the fourth quarter started with them ahead 38 to 36. Crab tree topped the game with 19, and Dan Jordan led the Jays with 16. Close behind was his teammate, Maurice O'Gr a d y. with 15. Ekstrom had 14 for lone and Pointer 10. Although the lone team would like to have pulled off the big surprise by coming home with the first place hardware, they had a fine tournament. Coach Glenn Biehl said that his team scored the best and shot the best from the floor that It has all season. Their total field goal shooting average for the tourn ament was a rather phenomenal .466, as they made 69 field goals of 148 attempts. Rollie Ekstrom was a big cog in the Cardinals' tournament machine, scoring 42 points, fifth high in the tournament. Tom Pointer finished with 29, and Wayne Hams with 25. Bob Williams, superintendent at Helix, presented the fourth place trophy to the five lone starters. Weston won the sports manship trophy.
