Taking first place was Ralph Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin, second was Marvin Padberg. son of Mr. and Mrs. Parrel Tadberg. and third was Diana Pettyjohn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn. Honorable mention or fourth place went to Arlcta .McCabe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl McCabe. Posters of the four top win ners will be tent to the district contest for competition. The kiate content will have 17 dis tricts competing in the final Judging with each district allow ed one poster. The four posters from lone will be entered in the Blue Mountain district which ahk Includes Umatilla, Board- man. Pendleton and other near by towns. Mr. Morgan Is the present dlrec tor of the Federal Land bank. Also attending was Mr. and Mrs. Itov Martin Among the parents attending Dad's Day at Oregon State over the week end at Corvallls were Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin and son Ralph, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan and son Gary. Mr. and Mrs. hod Kieimann and family visited with his father. Victor, In Pendleton on Sunday. Attend Arlington serrtces Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kletmann and family and Mrs. Delia Cor son attended the final services held in the Methodist church at Arlington on Sunday. This church la one of the buildings which will be burned over the week-end. Services next Sunday will be held In the new church building. Following the services. Mrs. Corson and Mr. and Mrs. Kietmann attended a community concert given by the combined choirs oi the local cnurcnes. A birthday party coffee hour was held at the home of Mrs Gary Tullia on Thursday. Feb ruary 22. In honor of Mrs. Fred Hermann. Mrs. Clell Rea and Mrs. Dick Sherer. Thirteen guests were present. Fred Hermann was home over the week-end for a visit with his family. Mr. Hermann is doc tortng at the Veteran's hospital In Walla Walla. Wn. He will return there soon. The Eastern Star Social will be held at the home of Mrs. Roy W. Lindstrom on March 7. Bors Enlist In Mary Lee Hams, son or Mr. and Mrs. Vester Hams, and Gordon Nich ols, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Nichols, enlisted In the Navy this week. The two boys left on Sunday from Hermlston for Portland where they underwent physicals and other tests on Monday. Both boys passed these tests and were flown with other enlistees to San Diego by jet on Tuesday morning to be in ducted into the Navy. Both boys have attended the lone High school. Mothers of the new kinder garten class sold pie and coffee during the election on Monday at the lone High school, with proceeds going into the kinder garten - fund. It is announced again for the benefit of parents p. m. at the school. Classes will begin on Monday, March 5. with hours act from 4" a. m. to 11:30 a. m. While t!n-ie they took in some of the activities of the Forest Grove Festival and the Barber Shop Annual to over 400 guests. Over 'ballad contest. They reported two dozen ladles helped in the DrcDaration and serving and a number of the daughters waited tables and also helped to serve. Mrs. Fred Ross, mother of Mrs. Joe Hausler, returned to her home after seeing the Hausler family through three weeks of the mumps. Mrs. Hausler report ed even she too, had them and that her mother's visit came at a very opportune time. Grand Master Visits Grand Master Eldreth Robin son of Central Point, accom panied bv Rav Tierney. Past Grand Master of Pendleton, paid an official visit to the Odd Fel lows lodge here on Thursday evening of last week. Odd Fel lows from Heppner and Ixlng ton were also guests.
