Last Tuesday night the How ard Cleveland! entertained at their home with a dinner party In honor of Jackie and BUI with Dr and Mrs. Cliff Wagner as guests. o o o KEVAN AND KENT Pratt host ed a fan-well party for Mark Labhart Friday evening and pre sented him with a soccer ball. A surprised Mark appeared when his classmates, Mike Smith, Monte Evans, Larry Pettyjohn, Jerry Healy, and David Gunder- son, were gathered at the Pratt home. The boys enjoyed a bar becue hot dog supper before at tending the grade school foot ball game. CHRIS LABHART was surprt. ed by his classmates with a fare well party and gift of a bill fold and belt at the Howard Pettyjohn home with Steve Pettyjohn as host Friday even Ing. The boys played football be fore supper and all attended the grade school football game. Guests Included John Van Win kle, Rickey Glmbel, Kit Ander son, David Hall, Gary Ball, Bob Dobbs, nandy Stlllman, Chris and Steve. o o o BETTY GIMBEL and Kay Rob Inson gave a handkerchief fare well party for Jackie Labhart at the Glmbel home Tuesday afternoon. The guests presented her with quite a lovely array of handkerchiefs. o o 0 DID YOU HEAR about the FHA slumber party last Friday night 7 Soma fun, huh 7 After the Heppner-Pilot Rock game, the party got going with the Initiation of 20 new FHA members. A business meeting followed to discuss the Eastern Oregon district meet in Heppner Oct. 21 with LIbby Van Schoiack, district president and chairman of the meet. Mrs. Elmor Schmidt, home ec onomics instructor, told me the girls had a wonderful time, play lng games, dancing and, of course, munching on snacks dur ing the evening and finally get ting to bed at 4:00 a. m. At 6:00 a. m. Mrs. Schmidt, Mrs. Everett Harshman, and Mrs. Helen Cox served breakfast of doughnuts and hot chocolate. Chape rones, are you up to it for another time after chaperoning 40 girls all at once? O O O WHO SHOULD win the food basket prize at the Soroptlmlst card party Monday night T ? Melba Quackenbush of the Red and White grocery ! ! O 0 o NEWLEYWEDS Don and Sher yl Hevener have been awaiting and not too anxiously, the pro posed, "Walt 'till you get mar rled then comes your charivari!" Well, they gut It Friday night! Dun ended up having to walk to town, and all finally gather ed at the John lUrtman home for breakfast. o o o PINOCHLE PLAY got under. way again for the younger set when the club met Thursday al the home of Mrs. Oliver Devin with Mrs. Vern Vlall as hostess. Cuing home with the prlies and gag prizes, like cucumbers, watermelon, squash, were Mrs. Vern Evans, high; Mrs. Kenny Sawyer, second; Mrs. Devin low; nd Mrs. Delbert Piper, the trav rung pnie. other guests were Mrs. Vkk Applegate. Mrs. Dick Robinson, and Mrs. Vic Croshena, Jr. o o e SATURDAY NIGHT, the Frank Hamlins, Conley Lanhama, and! Palmer Bill Blakes hosted a farewell party for the Bill Labharts at the Hamlin's mountain home. A wonderful spaghetti supper. was served and afterwards every one Joined In card games or Just visited. Maybe a little rem iniscing? A gift from the group was presented to Bill and Jackie for their new home In John Day. Guests enjoying the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Creston Rob inson, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Meador, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Flatt, Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Van Marter, Mr. I and Mrs. Frank Anderson, and Dr. and Mrs. Jim Norene. Staying overnight were the Flatts and Labharts and having breakfast with the Hamlins. o o o DUPLICATE BRIDGE play fol lowed a special family dinner at the Elks lodge Sunday with guests coming from Condon, Pendleton, and Hermiston. Winners for the play were Mr. and Mrs. William Hampton, Pen dleton; high for north-south; and Mrs. Bill Collins and La Verne Van Marter, second high. On the east-west side, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Edmiston, Hermiston, won high, and Mr. and Mrs, Robert Littleton, Pendleton, were second high. o o o HERE IS a good trick to use In preparing that venison steak or chops from the deer you geti over the week-end.
