Jay Wheelhouse and Mr. Wheelhouse (Jan Martin of Heppner) are also stationed at Williams A.F.B. Mr. and Mr. Swanson were able to visit with them. They also visited another former Henpnerlte, Bob Grablll and Mrs. GrabilL From Arizona the Swanson's took a Jet to Los Angeles, taking only an hour. Here they visited her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. rhllip Miller, for three days. They viewed a Dodger game which they reported was thrill ing. Disneyland was also on the calendar of visits. They left Los Angeles on Thursday evening at 7:10 p. m., arriving In Portland by Jet at 9:10. Here they were delayed again due to an oil leak for another hour. John Swan son, Mrs. Mary Swanson and Mrs. Kenneth Turner were on hand at the Tendleton Airport to welcome home the travelers at approxi mately 11:00 p. m. Mrs. Edithc Nichoson returned home after visiting In Portland with her daughter, Alice, last week. While there she and Alice also visited at Vashon Island and South Bend, Wash, with rel atives. Jack Crum and John Swanson left on Sunday to go to La Grande where they will practice for two weeks for the Shrine football game. On Saturday they will go to Portland to visit at the Shrine hospital and make man where Shirley reitulned with her grandparent for a visit and LeRoy returned home to lone. Van Hubbard and Mrs. Huh bard are staying In Pendleton a few days since the release of Mr. Hubbard from the hospital where he recently underwent surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rea spent a few days In the mountains last week fishing. Mrs. Walter Jacobs and child ren are visiting In Washington with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham. Mrs. Anna Llndstrom and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Llndstrom re turned home on Thursday after visiting In Portland with Mr. and Mrs. Warren Crutcher and family- " - ' ' .... Gene RIetmann and his mothe.", Mrs. Omar RIetmann, motored to Portland on August 1 to pick up Larry RIetmann who flew In to be best man at his brother Gene's wedding on August 6. They re turned to lone on Wednesday, leaving for Idaho on Thursday and Mr. and Mrs. RIetmann left on Friday. Victor RIetmann Is a patient In Pioneer Memorial hospital, spent the week-end visiting with her uncle Herbert G. and Mrs. Voruz In Portland. Also visiting was Mrs. Kietmann s cousin, Lewis Voruz and family of East St. Louis, Miss. On Sunday the family took a picnic dinner to Wakeena Falls, on the Columbia River Gorge. Board- man spent a few days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wal ter Corley last week. Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Huston and four children of Troutdale spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hausler and family. Mrs. Hausler and Mrs. Huston are former school mates. 4-H Club Has Work TXty Mrs. Louis Calson's Make and Model club held their meeting at the home of Jean Martin on Sat urday afternoon. It consisted of a work day and finishing of gar ments to be displayed and mod eled at the fair. Miss von Roes gen was a guest. John Eubanks and daughter, Sandra, were In Prlnevllle on Fri day to attend the rodeo there. 1st Lt. LeRov and Mrs. Bren ner are now In Wasco, Texas, where LeRoy Is attending In structors school. He will be sta tioned there about 10 weeks. On returning to the coast they will visit In lone around the middle of October. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pryor of Condon were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boyce and family. Church Schedules Rally Day Different boards of the church have been holding meetings and the fall activities of the church will start back on the regular fall schedule with a Rally Day on Sept. 10. On Sept. 21. pro motion day will be held at 9:13 a. m. with church school teach ers holding a dedication service. Following the service the annual church meeting will be held. Watch for later schedules on this matter. There will be a kindergarten registration at the Legion Hall on Sept. 5 from 8:45 to 11:00 a. m. Everyone who Is interested Is urged to attend.
