Arnold llavmond and Joe Harlle of our mechan ical ataff have literally woiked nltfht and day on thin aH-r. We would he n-lurtant to tell Just how many hours they have put in on It, but there have lieen times when the nun was shining brightly before they rolled Into bed for a couple of hours (sleep. Without them there would be no Welcome Edition and they deserve a great deal of credit. The others of our Maff have also come through as champions. We are grateful for the fine help given by newspn jxt friends at Woodburn. Gene Stoller and his part ner Kd t'oman, for their help. The sx lal edition, because of Its long run and many pages, was printed on the press of the Woodburn Indepen dent. This location was chosen because we are In the process of buying their press and hope to have It In operation at the OazetteTlmes later this year, dene went far beyond the call of cour tesy and stuck with us through one long night In the printing process. We want to thank the many volunteers who contributed articles and pictures. Most of the writing was done on a volunteer basis and It forms the backbone of this paper. When the Chamber of Commerce committee asked that we do this Job. we Milnted out that we were new and under some handicap. They promised every help, and they have given it to us. They have taken time off from their busy work Mhedule to take u around the county. Introduce u and awIM with planning and pro duefion. It M Iitii a real tdeature to Work With Chairman Elmer Schmidt and every member of tils fine and active committee. There has l-en considerable commendation already alniut the activity and recreation map on the front page of this uprclal edition. We believe It only fair to point out that the map was drawn by le Neperud of Salem Engraving Company In Salem, and the Job Is more remark able when It Is considered that .he probably has never len In Morrow county. Her bos, Harold Hums, who ha been helpful to us through our years In the newspaper business, made the en graving. We always count on him for expert work and are never disappointed. Through the Welcome Edition we have be come quickly acquainted with a great many per sons In the county. As the late Will Kogcrs once said, "I never met a one that I didn't like.
