Dalles, said that the decision to
close the plant was made fol
lowing a two-year study of all
economic factors Involved and
stated that th closure was nec
essary because of economic rea
sons only.

there.

the Joint meeting here Thursday
night. The program Is to ac
quaint the public with the prop
er procedure of things to do In
case of an auto accident to save
Uvea and minimize possibility of
further accldenta.
A membership drive was dis
cussed for both the tglon and
the Auxiliary. It was mentioned
that many In the area are eligi
ble for membership and stated
that a special effort should be
made to interest them In the Le
gion progrsm.
Following the 6:30 social hour
and the pot-luck dinner the Le
gion met separately and the
Auxiliary heard state deputy

taining new members, and help
lay plans for Heart Sunday for
the local post
She said that American Legion
posts nationally had given J50,-
000 to the Heart Fund last year

to the legislature by Rep. Staf
