Episcopal Men Plan Summer Activities The men of All Saints' Epis copal church met Thursday evening in a special vestry meet ing to discuss plans for summer activities. A department of layman act ivities was organized with Robert Abrams chairman and Allen Case, Frank Anderson and Clar ence Rosewall on the commit tee. Among things discussed were plans for the annual barbecue to be held on the lawn at the church at 5:00 p m the Saturday of the Heppner fair and rodeo. A family picnic and swim Is planned for later in the summer at lone and Saturday night, June 1 there will be an Episcopal men's stag night to be held at the Legion hall. There will be a smorgasbord, games, putting contests and prizes, all proceeds will go to the church. HOLIDAY TO BE OBSERVED Practically all Heppner stores and business offices will be closed Monday, May 30 in ob servance of Memorial Day, a national holiday. Rushing the Season- If it had started a half hour later, the hall storm would have put it out, but lleppner firemen did the Job Monday instead. It was the city's first grass fire of the season and it occured Monday afternoon on North Gil mote street just below the hos pital. Why the small patch of green grass was burning, nobody has yet figured out. Navy and Air Force personnel engaged In all conceivable com mand and staff aspects of logis ileal support of a combat force. Brannon. whose mother, Mrs Mary' M Blettel. lives In lone, entered the Army last January and completed basic training at Fort Ord. Calif.
