Thursday, December 24. 1959 7 "Now We Sing" is Presented by lone Sunday School By ECHO PALMATE ER The lone community sunday school presented the program, "Now We Sing" at the church Sunday evening, Dec 20. The program consisted of the follow ing groups singing songs; the nursery and beginner depart ment as American children; the Jolly Juniors and 4th grade as German group; the Kindergarten as Mexican group; the Jolly Jun iors and 3rd grade as Scandi navian group; the primary and 1st grade as Czech group; the primary and 2nd grade a Eng lish group. Stephen Lindstrom was the narrator; the junior de partment consisted of the speech choir. The high school group and the Quintones sang. Carols were also sung by the audience. Rev Rod MacKenzie led in the prayers. The cast consisted of Marilee Leathers as Mary; Tom my Melena as Joseph; Tim Tul lis, Mark Halvorsen, Jim Jacobs and Jerry Stefanl as the Shep herds; Joe Halvorsen, Bobby Emert and Bobby Lee DeSpain as the wiseman; and Marlene Crawford as the American Child. The accompanists were Mrs Phil Emert Sr, Mrs E Markham Baker and Mrs Fredrick Martin. The committees were: program, Mrs Delmer Crawford, Mrs Roy Lindstrom, Mrs Wallace Mat thews and Mrs Charles Hudson assisted by the church school teacher. Costumes Mrs Lewis Halvorsen and Mrs Omar Riet mann. Decorations, Mrs Martin, Mrs Elbe Akers and Mrs 0 L Lundell. Lighting, Rev MacKen zie. Mrs Martin is the Sunday school superintendent and Mrs Walter Roberts the superinten dent of the primary department. The high school boys were ush ers. The offering went to world missions. The Pilgrim Fellowship groups went caroling after the program and enjoyed refreshments after wards at the parsonage. The following program was given at the Lutheran Valby church in Gooseberry Sunday evening by the Sunday school classes greetings by Phillip Carlson; the nursery class gave a pantomime, Long Ago; The kindergarten class a recitation Christmas Candles; the primary class, the True Gifts; all the classes gave a pantomime, Tidine of Great Joy. Rev John Rydgren gave the Christmas story, Kristine Peterson and Car- ley Bergstrom played piano solos and Karen Lundell was the ac companist on the organ. Darlene Warren gave the goodnight speech. Mr and Mrs Henry Baker had charge of the treats. Refresh ments were also served. Those assistinar with the program were, Mrs Donald Peterson, Mrs Robert Peterson, Mrs William Kawnns, Mrs Louis Carlson, Mrs Art War ren, Mrs Roland Bergstrom, Mrs Roger Palmer and Mrs Herbert Peterson. At the meeting of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge Thursday even ing of last week it was decided To wish you Merry Christmas Cheer and every Joy throughout, the Christmas Season. Carl F. Dr and Mrs J F Kalister of Kammerer, Wyoming are the narents of a son born Dec 21 at the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. The grandparents are Joseoh Kalister of Frontier, Wy oming and Noel Dobyns of lone. Mrs Grace Ware of Morton, Wasn is' the great-grandmother. Mrs Kalister has been staying at the Walter Dobyns home. A Christmas tree and treats were enjoyed at the Baptist church Sunday after the regular services. A Christmas party was held recently at the home of Rev and Mrs James Riley. Those present were Mr and Mrs Ralph Crum, Mr and Mrs Ray Barnett, Mr and Mrs James Morgan, Mr and Mrs Edison Morean and Mr and Mrs Arbuckle. Games were play ed and refreshments served. Colleee students home for hol idays are: University of Oregon Mardine Baker; Eastern Oregon College of Education Bill Salter, Kay Sherer, Dallas Rea, Berl Akers and Dick Ekstrom; Wil lamette University Gerry White and Kenneth Jones; Whitman College Julie Rietmann; Colum bia Basin College in Pasco, Wash Sharon Cutsforth; Oregon Tech at Klamath Falls Loy Keene, Frank Jepsen, Paul Pettyjohn Jr, Keith Rea and John Howton. Masons Install The following officers were in stalled in Masonic lodge 120 Wednesday evening, Dec 16: Adon Hamlett, worshipful mas ter; Melvin Melena, senior war den; Leo Crabtree, junior war den: Rov Lindstrom, treasurer; Charles O'Connor, secretary; Ro bert DeSpain, senior steward; Omar Rietmann, junior steward; Lewis Halvorsen, cnapiain. inose tn he installed later are Gene Rietmann, senior deacon; Her bert Ekstrom, junior deacon; Walter Roberts tyler and Walter Dobyns, marshall. The installing officers were Walter Dobyrls, Installing mas ter; Omar Rietmann, installing marshal and Lewis Halvorsen in stalling chaplain. Mrs Charles O'Connor was the musician. A potluck dinner preceded the meeting, served by the mem bers of the Eastern Star. Mr and Mrs Leslie Roundy and daughters, Kay and Julia of Kennewick, Wash and Mr and Mrs Ralph Kincaid and baby of Stanfield were visitors at the home of Mrs Ruby Nichols and Lewis Padberg Sunday. Mr and Mrs Francis Connor of Pilot Rock are the parents of twins, a boy and a girl, born Dec 21 at the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. Mr and Mrs Van Hubbard of lone and Mr and Mrs Frank Connor of Hepp ner are the grandparents. Mr and Mrs Rippee of Heppner and Mrs Luella Brill of Dayton, Wash are the great-grandparents. John Peterson of The Dalles and a student at Portland State visited at the homes of the Omar Rietmanns and the David Riet manns last week. Mr and Mrs Gilbert Lujan are the parents of a daughter, born Dec 20 at the Pioneer Memorial hospital. Weight 8 lb 5V4 oz. Mr and Mrs Oscar Koster of Allen, Nebraska are the grandparents.
