Other officers elected were Robert Drake, vice commander; Melvin Melena, adjutant; Ro bert DeSpain, chaplain and Bill Rietmann, sergeant-at-arms. The members of the post planned a dance at their hall, Dec 26. The American Legion Auxil iary unit met at the home of Mrs Earl McCabe Tuesday after noon, Dec 1. A Christmas party was planned for the evening of Dec 15 at the Legion hall with a potluck dinner at 6 P M. All members of the Legion and Aux iary and their families are wel come. Members are asked to bring gifts for the Eastern Ore gon hospital. Suggested gifts are cosmetics, costume jewelry, stamped goods, emb r o i d e r y thread, yarn, cake mixes, hose, etc. Gifts are also to be brought for games. Mrs Cecil Thome re ceived the door prize. At the city council meeting Tuesday evening, Dec 1, the ord inance was passed pertaining to liquor licenses, it was voted to have a furnace installed in the city hall, which will furnish heat for the public library and shop also. Two Christmas trees will be placed in Main Street this year. , lone has begun to take on the Christmas spirit. Eldon Tucker has a Nativity scene in his yard. The lights have been put up in the streets and a large lighted star on the city reservoir. New officers of the Senior high Pilgrim Fellowship group in the community church for the coming year are: Bob Rice, pres ident; Phil Emert Jr, vice presi dent; Marilyn Morgan, secretary treasurer; Paula Barak, Faith; Melvin Martin, Action; Kenneth Lynn Smouse, Fellowship and Sherry Benson, reporter for their publication, The Grapevine. Mr and Mrs Alvin McCabe are their sponsors. Junior high Fellowship group officers are: Robert Emert, president; Delores Emert, vice president; Sue Townsend, secretary-treasurer; Fran McLeod, Faith; Elaine Gaarsland, action; and Joe Halvorsen, Fellowship. The Fellowship group is taking orders for Christmas trees and they can be picked up at the church Sunday. The profit will be given toward buying new hymnals for the church. The high school Pilgrim Fel lowship group went to Lexington Sunday evening to see the film "King of Kings" and held a busi ness meeting afterwards at the Fredrick Martin home. Among those from here who attended the Wheat League in Pendleton last week were Mr and Mrs Milton Morgan, Mr and Mrs E Markham Baker, Mr and Mrs Walter Jacobs, Mr and Mrs James Lindsay, Mr and Mrs Nor man Nelson, Kenneth Smouse, Mr and Mrs Raymond Lundell, Mr and Mrs Fredrick Martin, Mr and Mrs Ralph Crum, Oscar Pet erson, Donald Peterson, Roy Lindstrom and Lloyd Howton. Around 75 people attended the potluck supper and Christmas party given by the Rebekahs at their hall Sunday evening. $28.50 was given to the free will offer ing which will go to the Odd Fellows Home in Portland. Mrs Echo Palmateer showed slides on her recent trip to Alaska and Mrs Omar Rietmann showed slides of the Odd Fellow Home and of their trip to San Fran cisco and other places in Calif ornia last fall also of other local events.
