New Noble Grand Of lone Rebekahs By ECHO PALMATEER Mrs David Rietmann was elec ted noble grand of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge at a meeting Thursday evening, Nov 19. Other officers elected were Mrs Ewing Hynd, vice grand; Mrs Wallace Matthews, secretary and Mrs Mary Swanson, treasurer. Mrs Adon Hamlett is the present no ble grand. At the meeting plans were made for the Christmas party to be held Dec 6 with a potluck supper at 5:30 P M. The public is invited. There will be a good will offering for the IOOF home In Portland. Those on the committee are, decorations, Mrs Ernest Heliker, and Mrs Harvey Ring; tables, Mrs Paul Pettyjohn, Mrs Mat thews and Mrs Hamlett; food, Mrs E R Lundell, Mrs Cecil Thome, Mrs Cleo Drake and Mrs Mary Swanson; program, Mrs Omar Rietmann and Mrs Echo Palmateer. Trip following officers were elected at the Three Links club of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge at the home of Mrs Harvey King Thursday afternoon of last week: Mis Cleo Drake, president; Mrs Paul Pettyjohn, vice president i and Mrs E R Lundell, secretary and treasurer. The December meeting will be held at the home j of Mrs Adon Hamlett. Mrs Cecil I Thome received the door prize. There are twice as many "favorite pieces to go around breast, drumsticks, whatever your family prefers. Tender young broiler-fryers make ideal roasting birds. They are so juicy that no basting is required. Little labor; lots of flavor. Chicken Duet 2 broiler-fryers 2 tablespoons softened butter, 1 teaspoon salt, divided shortening or salad oil Wash chickens under cold, running water; pat dry inside and out with paper toweling. Sprinkle each cavity with Vi teaspoon of the salt. Fill neck cavity lightly with stuffing. Hook wing tip into back to hold neck skin; if skin is short fasten with skewer. Fill body cavity with stuffing; tie legs together with string, then tie legs and tail together. Rub entire body of each chicken with 1 tablespoon softened butter or shortening, or brush with salad oil. Place chickens on rack in shullow roasting pan. Roast in a mod erate oven (375F.). Allow 30 minutes per pound. Serve with your favorite gravy. Savoy Sniffing I package (8 ounces) 4 tablespoons chopped onion prepared stuffing mix 1 cup diced celery In saucepan or skillet, melt butter called for in package direc tions for crumbly stuffing. Add onion and celery; cook until onion is tender, but not browa Add liquid called for in package direc tions. Bring to a boil. Add to stuffing. Divide stuffing m half. To half the stuffing, add Vi cup chopped Brazil Nuts. To remaining half, add 6 medium oysters coarsely cut. Use each half of the stuffing for one chicken. The American Legion Auxil iary met at the home of Mrs G Hermann Tuesday evening, Nov 17 with Mrs Herman Blet- tell as co-hostess. Members made 55 paper flowers for the Veter an's hospital In Portland to be used in the wheel chair parade. Slides were shown of the wheel chair parades in Portland and Camp White in Medford. The following officers were re elected of the HEC of Willows grange Friday afternoon, Nov 20 at the home of Mrs Berl Akers: Mrs Harvev Kine. chairman; Mrs Marlon Palmer, vice chairman; Mrs James Lindsay, secretary and Mrs O L Lundell, treasurer. At the meeting conducted by Mrs Ring, it was decided to paint the kitchen and dining room in the eranee hall. There will be no HEC meeting in December but will have their Christmas party with the grange A watch party will be held New Years Eve beginning at 8 p M for the public. Mrs Leo Prahtree received the door prize Clarence Holtz was a patient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital last week following surgery. Mr and Mrs Elmer Holtz spent the weekend in Richland, Wash with the Dave Reisner family. The Arnica club met at the home of Mrs Raymond Lundell Wednesday afternoon, Nov 18. with Mrs Milton Morgan as co- hostess. Games were played. Mrs Dallas Shockley received the door prize. Mrs James Barnett entertained the pinochle club at her home Friday evening of last week. There were 8 present. Lt John Bristow ot Clinton Air Force Base in Oklahoma are vis iting at the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs E W Bristow. tie is on a 30 day leave. The Bris tow's other son, Pvt Bristow, fin ished his training at Fort Ord, California and is now at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. where he is in combat engineering training. Mrs Walter Roberts returned hnmp from the Pioneer Memor ial hospital last week where she was a patient for a lew ciays. Mrs Edison Morgan was a pat ient in the rioneer Memorial hospital for a couple of days last week. Mr and Mrs Wallace Matthews spent the weekend in Portland. Mr and Mrs Roy Llndstrom spent a few days in Portland last week. Mrs Delia Corson spent a few davs in Portland. She went down with Kenneth Smouse, Mrs Anne Smouso and Mrs Minnie Forbes. Mrs Forbes went on to California to visit relatives. Mrs John Turner of Baker has been visiting her mother, Mrs Olive Engleman and other rel atives. Fredrick Martin attended a Methodist church meeting at Suttle Lake last week. Rev Rod MacKenzie was a Portland visitor last week where he spoke at Lewis and Clark College. Susan Llndstrom, daughter ot Mr and Mrs Roy L'ndstrom un derwent a tonsillectomy in the Pioneer Memorial hospital, Fri day of last week. Mr and Mrs G Hermann had an accident with their car Hiursday of last week when they were on their way to Echo. They struck an icy spot near the Roy Martin ranch. They were taken to the Pioneer Memorial hos pital. Mr Hermann was there for the day and Mrs Hermann spent a few days there for treatments of bruises and shock. Their daughter. Mrs Harlan Crawford of Echo has been with them.
