In the afternoon the Ecclasias tical council met. This council consisted of church representa tives from th Mid-Columbia and Portland Associations. They ex amined Rod MacKenzie and heard his credentials. In the evening, Dr A J Buttrey Congregational conference super intendent, Portland gave the or dination sermon; Rev Ray Wood ruff minister to the Ingle chapel near Milton-Freewater gave the invocation; Rev W O Smith min ister to the Hillsboro church, gave the litany of ordination; Rev James Austin, minister to the ButtevilleMeridian churches, gave the scripture lesson; Rev Edwin Berreth, minister to the Milton-Freewater church, gave the statement to the congrega tion; the examination of and declaration by the ordained; prayer by W B MacKenzie, a minister to youth in northern California Congregational confer ence; Rev Fred Morrow, minister to The Dalles church, gave the right hand to fellowship; Rev Vincent Crane, minister to the Forest Grove church, gave the charge to the congregation and Dr Paul Davies, superintendent emeritus of the Oregon Congre gational conference, Portland gave the prayer of dedication. Rev W W Head, a retired min ister from Cathlamet, Wash and a former minister in lone, and Rev Arnold Brown, minister to the Hood River church, also took part in the ordination services. The choir sang, "God So Loved the World". Rev W B MacKenzie had charge of the Communion service. Mrs E Markham Baker was the organist and Arnie Head led the choir. Those from out of I town assisted in the choir were A J Buttrey of Portland, Mrs Fred Winn of Weston. A planned potluck dinner was served before the ordination ser vices at the school cafetorium by the members of the Maranatha club with Mrs Marion Palmer as general chairman. Around 150 people were served at the dinner. Rev Berreth was toastmaster. Charles Hudson assistant moder ator of Community church, gave the welcome. Other speakers were Dr Davies, Dr Buttrey, Rev Head and Rev W B MacKenzie. A coffee hour was held before the afternoon meeting and re freshments were served after the evening meeting. Those having charge were Mrs David Riet mann, Mrs O L Lundell, Mrs Wate Crawford and Mrs Cecil Thorne. Those coming from a distance and remained over night Wed nesday were Dr and Mrs A J Buttrey and Dr and Mrs Paul Davies of Portland stayed at the E Markham Baker home: Rev W O Smith, Hillsboro and Rev Vincent Ciane of Forest Grove itaved at the Roy Lindstrom home; Rev and Mrs L J Austin and baby of Butteville-Merldlan at the Lewis Halvorsen home; Rev Arnold Brown and daughter, Eonnie of Hood River at the Vic tor Rietmann home; Mrs Perkins and Mrs Pearson of Hood River at the O L Lundell home; Rev and Mrs Fred Morrow of The Dalles at the Milton Morgan home; Mr and Mrs Paul Balsiger of The Dalles at the David Riet mann home; Rev and Mrs W W Head of Cathalamet, Wash and their son, David Head of The Dalles scent the day here. There was also a representation from the Condon church. Rev and Mrs W B MacKenzie of California spent a few days with his brother There's no extra charge for repairs. It was E decided to see about having some work done on the reservoir and the dike above town. James Bar E nett, Roy Llndstrom and Bill 5 Rietmann were appointed by Mayor Charles O'Connor to see about installing a furnace in the city hall and library. Robert De- Spain was presented at the meet- E ing and brought some Juvenile E problems beiore the council. is A social hour was held after the regular meeting of Bunch- E grass Rebekah lodge Thursday E evening of last week. The hos tesses were Mrs Cecil Thorne, Mrs Ida Coleman and Mrs Sam Esteb. New linoleum has been laid in the hall. Mrs Lana Pad- berg was presented with a 50' year pin from the Rebekahs. Mrs -Paul Pettyjohn received the door 2 prize. 1 5 The lone extension unit met a at the Masonic hall Thursday Nov o ana received instruction in textile painting. Mrs Peter Timm of Pendleton was the In- structor. There were 9 In the 5 class and they made tulips and cut out stencils. A textile paint-1 ing class will be held Nov 12. at the home of Mrs Bonnie Kin- cald. At the business meeting conducted by Mrs Art Warren, vice chairman, It was decided to give a gift next year to an out standing 4-H club member who is 15 years old or under In the junior sewing division. A trav eling food sale was planned lor Dec 22 to sell holiday breads. The Dec meeting will be held Dec 3 at the home of Mrs L A McCabe on Holiday Breads be ginning at 10 a m with a pot luck dinner at noon. The American Legion Auxil iary meeting was held at the home of Mrs Charles Doherty Tuesday afternoon, Nov 3 with Mrs C E Brenner as co-hostess. The meeting was conducted by Mis G Hermann, president At the meeting It was decided that the Auxiliary give $2 toward the air conditioner at the Pioneer Memorial hospital, to subscribe for the Star magazine and the Legislative Bulletin, and to pur chase 'SO poppies. Mrs Earl Mc Cabe. Americanism chairman, will contact the school children In regard to Americanism essay contests. There will be prizes given for each division. The first division will be the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades and the 2nd division will be the 10th, 11th and 12th grades. $5 will be the 1st prize for each division and $2.50 for 2nd in each division. Mrs John Eubanks, rehabilitation chair man, reported that 9 Jackets, 9 pairs of scuffs, 4 laprobes, 12 table covers and used men's clothing had been turned in to be sent to Camp White veteran's home In Medford. Those making the ' Jackets were Mrs Roland Bergstrom, Mrs L A McCabe, Mrs Lewis Halvorsen, Mrs C E Bren ner each made one. Mrs Elmer Harr of Blackfoot, Idaho and Mrs Elmer Holtz each made two. Mrs Eubanks wished to thank those who made the jackets also the junior girls who gathered used nylons. Mrs Ernest McCabe and daughters, Lisa and Laurie, of Bay City visited her parents, Mr and Mrs E W Bristow the first part of last week. They came up with Mrs Henry Smith of Bay City who brought her sister, Mrs George Snider home. Mrs Snider has been visiting there for some time. Mr and Mrs Dallas Shockley attended the funeral services of Charles Richard McCracken in Athena Monday of last week. Mrs Walter Jacobs and Mrs Robert DeSpain gave a bridge party Tuesday evening of last week In honor of Mrs Ernest McCabe of Bay City at the Ja cobs home. Those receiving priz es were Mrs Walter Corley, high; Mrs Delmer Crawford 2nd high and Mrs Ray Boyce, low. Mrs Ray Boyce entertained the bridge club at her home Friday evening of last week. Those re ceiving prizes were, Mrs Robert DeSpain, Mrs Gene Hall and Mrs Walter Corley.
