aIIIIIIIIIIIMUHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIillimiHn S2FAL Happenings JoMphlne Thompson, Social Reporter HEPPNER METHODIST CHURCH SCENE OF BREEDING-OTT WEDDING IN MAY The First Methodist church of Heppner was the scene of the marriage Tuesday evening, May 26, of Rhoda Ann Ott, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Ott, and Paul Breeding, son of Mr and Mrs O G Breeding of Lexington At the ceremony the bride wore a ballerina length ivory brocade gown with a fingertip veil held by a headband of white flowers, and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and lily of the valley on a white Bible. The bride's father gave her in marriage. The bride's maid of honor was Bernice Thomson and she wore a blue lace ballerina length gown and a pink rosebud cor sage. Max Breeding was his broth er's best man, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev Les ter Boulden. The bride's mother wore a black street length dress with white accessories and a pink rosebud corsage, and the mother of the groom wore a blue street length dress with white access ories and a pink rosebud cor sage. A reception followed the cere mony and was held in the church basement, which was decorated with baskets of spring bouquets of Iris. Mrs Jack Timpeny was in charge of the reception assis ted by the high school senior girls. Those in charge of the gift table were Norma Alder man, Joanne Moe, and Ruth Pet erson. Susan McQuarrie poured the coffee and Sharon Case was at the punch bowl. Those cut ting the cake were Kay Reed and Marilyn Calvin, and Bonnita Slatter took care of the guest book. The out of town guests were Mr and Mrs W C Wetzel of West fir, Oregon, Mr and Mrs Dale Slatter and son and daughter, Kenneth and Bonnita of Potter Valley, California, Mrs Gladys Watson and son Kenneth of Walla Walla, Mrs Howard Olson and daughters, Nancy and Diane of Caldwell, Idaho, Mr and Mrs Bob Steagall, Mrs George Stea gall, Mr and Mrs Wilbur Stea gall, Anna Steagall, Mr and Mrs Jerry Dougherty, and Mrs Emma Breshears all of Lexington, and Mrs Howard Crowell. Dinner-Dancing Party Honors Carla Rulkens A birthday dinner and dancing party was given" in honor of Miss Carla Rulkens Wednesday even ing at the home of Mr and Mrs Harry Bongers. The guests helping Miss Rul kens celebrate were Susan Mc Quarrie, Caroline McDaniel, Jan ice Driscoll, Nancy Slocum, Car ol Anderson, Marilyn Calvin, Dick Robinson, Butch Laughlin, Bob Bryant, Renn Harris, Larry Prock, and Dick Ruhl. Mrs Healy Holds High Score At Bridge Club The Kings Little Queens bridge club was entertained at the home of Mrs Jerry Daggett Wednesday evening of last week. Guests were Mrs Bill Glennie, Mrs Jack. Healy, Mrs Bob Brindle, Mrs Clint McQuarrie, Mrs Herb Hamilton, Mrs Harry O'Donnell Jr, Mrs Bill Sowell, Mrs Philip Blakney, Mrs Paul Koenig, Mrs Les Wyman, Mrs Bill Blake, and Mrs Pat O'Brien. Soroptimists Hold Annual Meeting The Soroptimlst Club of Hepp ner held its annual business meetine Thursday at O'Donnell's with committee chairmen giving reports of the years activities. II! sm Large Crowd Enjoys Annual Episcopal Birthday Luncheon The annual birthday luncheon and card party was held Satur day afternoon at the All Saints' Episcopal parish house with twenty five tables enjoying both pinochle and bridge. Each table had an individual hostess who was in charge of the place settings and decorations and also was responsible for a foursome for the afternoon cards. High score for the afternoon in bridge was held by Mrs David Baum of LaGrande and low was Mrs Gene Pierce. In pinochle, Mrs Riley Munkers was high and Mrs Fred Mankin low. The hostesses in charge of the luncheon and serving were Mrs P W Mahoney, Mrs E K Schaf fitz. Vlcki Kreimeyer and Jean Stockard, in Centennial dress, greeted the guests at the door. Over 85 were in attendance. Students of Mrs Owens who performed were Joan Bruce, Car ole Burkenbine, Alfred and Sus an Drake, Ricky Gimbel, Greg Kreimeyer, Claudia and Joyce Noland, and Mike Warren. Mrs Kreimeyer's students ap pearing on the program were Gail Batty, Linda Clark, Kristy Koenig, John Rawlins, Joan Stockard, Jean and Paula Seiw ert, Mike Smith and Meredith Webb. Spring flowers decorated the tables and room. Mothers of the pupils arranged the reception, which followed the recital. Several Parties Fete Guests Of Barratts Saturday evening Mr and Mrs Garnet Barratt entertained with a cocktail party honoring Mr and Mrs Frank Reek on their 25th wedding anniversary. Mr and Mrs Reek are From Phoenix, Arizona and are houseguests at the Barratt home. The Friday evening preceedlng Mr and Mrs Reek were honored guests at a dinner party at the home of Mr and Mrs Ralph Thompson with Mr and Mrs Frank Turner as co-host and co hostess. Last Sunday at the mountain cabin of Mr and Mrs Frank Ham lin at Parkers Mill, Mr and Mrs Reek were also guests at a din ner party in the afternoon. Her guests were Mrs Earl Evans, Mrs Henry Happold, Mrs Fred Mankin, Mrs Bob Lowe, Mrs Walter Becket, Mrs O E Wright, and Mrs Max Buschke. Thursday, June 11. 1959 S Bridal Shower Honors Miss Joann Ingram Miss Joann Ingram was honor ed with a bridal shower Sat urday afternoon at the lone Legion hall. The hostesses were the moth ers of the graduating class of 1955. They were Mrs Van Hub bard, Mrs Ray Barnett, Mrs Omar Rietmann, Mrs Earl McKinney, Mrs Herman Blettell, Mrs Doris Gollyhorn, Mrs Lawrence Jones, Mrs Herbert Ekstrom and Mrs Clell Rea. Mrs Kenneth Turner, Mrs Terry Farrow and Miss Marilyn Mor gan assisted with the gifts. Refreshments were served from a table with a centerpiece of roses. Mrs Mary Swanson poured and Mrs Garland Swanson pre sided at the punch bowl. Mrs Adon Hamlett served the cake. Miss Ingram is the bride elect of Dennis Swanson. The wed ding will take place at 10:00 a m on June 20 at St Mary's Catholic church in Pendleton, with a reception at the Vert club room. All relatives and friends are invited. Mrs Alex Thompson. Those playing were Mrs Ralph Richmond, Mrs Frank Anderson, Mrs Clint Agee, Mrs Paul Webb, Mrs James Mallon, Mrs Bill Bar ratt, Mrs Eddie Gunderson and Reception To Honor Mr and Mrs Clell Rea Mr and Mrs Clell Rea will be honored on their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception Sunday, June 14 from 2:30 to 5:30 p m at the ranch home of Mr and Mrs Gary Tullis. Their children, Mr and Mrs Richard Rea, Mr and Mrs Jer aid Rea, Mr and Mrs Keith Rea and Kathy Rea will be hosts. Members present were Leora Van Winkle, Jeanette Leadbet ter, Maureen Dohcrty, Linda and Phyllis Thornburg, Barbara and Mary Nichols, Barbara McCorkle, Theresa Munkers, Kay Peck. Joyce Peck was absent as she is ill. Mrs Fay Thornburg and Jan et bessinger of Pendleton were visitors to our meeting. We discussed good sewing work habits, good personal ap pearance habits and care of our clothes. We worked and finish ed our needle cases and most of us finished our pin cushions. We are going shopping June 13 for material for our head scarfs. Our next meeting will be June 13 at the home of Joyce Peck.
