Following the installation cer emonies Fern Albert sang a solo, accompanied by Janice Martin and a trio, Janice Martin, Judy Cochell and Fern Albert sang two numbers. Mrs Boulden was chairman of the refreshments committee and decorated the tea table. Mrs Barratt Honored With Shower By Renegers Bridge Club The Renegers bridge club was entertained at the home of Mrs LaVerne Van Marter Wednesday evening of last week and Mrs Bill Barratt was honored with a baby shower by the members. The guests were Mrs P W Ma honey, Mrs Fred Gimbel, Mrs Elaine George, Mrs Bill Barratt, Mrs Eddie Gunderson, Mrs James J Farley, Mrs Gene Hall, Mrs James Norene. Mrs Gordon Pratt, Mrs Alex Thompson, Mrs Paul Webb, and Mrs Frank Ander son. Mrs Gunderson was high win ner for the evening, Mrs Webb was second high, and Mrs Nor ene won low. Refreshments were served af ter Mrs Barratt opened her gifts. Kerry Mattoon Has Twelfth Birthday Kerry Mattoon was honored Saturday evening with a dinner party on his 12th birthday, at the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs Al Mattoon. After dinner a scavenger hunt was enjoyed by the group and later games and dancing, with birthday cake and ice cream ser ved at the close of the evening. Guests were Vickie Barratt, Lynn Burkenbine, Judy Smith, Patricia Van Winkle, Karen Mc Curdy, Barbara Blake, Stewart Dick, Larry Heath, David Han na, Greg Pierce, Johnny Pfelf fer and the guest of honor. During the evening a coke and punch bar was featured and prizes were given for the scav enger hunt and games. Soroptimists Name Scholarship Winners At the meeting of the Soropti mist Club of Heppner Thursday noon at O'Donnell's it was an nounced that Christine Prussing had received the summer camp scholarship for the grade school and from the high school Judy Schmidt received a camp schol arship. Janice Driscoll and Celia Boul den were the senior girl repre sentatives from Heppner high school to attend this meeting. The next big event for the club will be their annual In stallation "banquet on Saturday evening, June 27 at the parish house of All Saints' Episcopal church. The couDle was married May 10, 1909 in Pendleton. They came to Boardman In 1915, and alter .farming here for some years, they were in state and federal government work for 15 years, living at Culver. They returned to Boardman five years ago, and now have their home on the river bank here. Thev have three living child ren, R B Rands of Boardman, Mrs Robert Imi-eriale of Cloverdale, California, and Vaughn Keyes, Portland, and ten grandchildren. In charge of the reception were Mrs Nate Macomber, Mrs Earl Briggs, Mrs Russell Miller, Mrs Nathan Thorpe, Mrs Glen Car penter, Mrs Charles Anderegg, Mrs Walter Wyss, Mrs Ray Brown and Mrs Margaret Klitz. The lace covered reception ta ble was centered with an ar langement of gold Iris and gold ranrllps. The anniversary cake, made and decorated by Mrs Ed ward Skoubo, was topped witn the numeral 50 and a bridal couple, with the bride's dress in gold, The cake was on a table covered with r. crocheted lace cloth made by Mrs Nate Macom ber. Pouring coffee was Mrs Clara Worden, Portland, sister of Mr Rands, and Eva D Caron, Milton Freewater, niece of Mrs Rands, served the punch. Serving the cake were Mrs Perry Brown of Brentwood, California and Mrs Nine Cooley of Hood River. Nan cy Rands, Boardman, and Jackie Phelps, Brentwood, California, granddaughters, were at the gift table. Barbara Anderegg was in charge of the guest book. Joe Tatone, city mayor, gave the address of welcome, and a gift was presented to the couple by the community. A mock wedding was staged by sma,y folks with Dick Skoubo as the minister, David Skoubo as eroom. Teresa Thorpe as the bride, Bobbie Skoubo as best man Karen Gronauist and Linda Tatone as bridesmaids, Randy Stewart as father of the bride, Jody Tatone as ring-bearer, and Diane Black as flower girl. Soroptimists Fete Senior Girls-Mothers At Annual Tea The home of Miss Leta Hum phreys was the scene Sunday afternoon, from 3 to 4:30 p m for the annual tea given by the Soroptimist Club of Heppner hon oring the senior girls of Hepp ner and Lexington and their mo thers. During the afternoon pictures were taken of each girl with her mother and these with corsages were presented the girls. Judy Cochell and Fern Albert sang, accompanied by Mrs Vic Kreimeyer; Judy Kreimeyer gave a reading and Judy Schmidt played two selections on the piano. Jeanne Schmidt played in cidental music during the tea hour. Mrs W C Collins poured and Mrs James Hager presided at the punch bowl. The tea table was centered with an arrangement of pink rosebuds and lavender candles, the senior class colors being pink and lavender. Mrs John Pfeiffer was general chairman for the tea, assisted by Mrs Oliver Creswick, Mrs James Tiiomson, Mrs Grace Nickerson, Mrs Pearl Devine and Mrs Loyal Parker. Mrs Robert Penland, Miss Humphreys and Mrs Eddie Gun derson were in charge of the program. Farewell Dinner Party Given In Honor Of The Tom Wilsons The Duplicate bridge club hon ored Mr and Mrs Tom Wilson Saturday evening with a fare well dinner party at Stefani's in lone. The Wilsons are leav ing in June to make their home in Sand Point, Idaho. Pioneer Teachers To Be Honored In Book Members of Iota chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, were guests May 16 in Heppner. At a noon luncheon, prepared by the women of the Methodist church, were members from Umatilla and Morrow counties.! Mrs Earl Esseltyn, presided at the business meeting which was followed by an Interesting mus ical program arranged by Mrs E L Blomgren of Pendleton. In observance of the Centen nial of Oregon, the state mem bers of Delta Kappa Gamma compiled an historical account of Pioneer teachers and contem porary leaders. A copy of this book, The Lamplighters, Is be ing presented to the Heppner City library. Local interest will center on the biographies of Mrs Lucy Rodgers, former county superintendent of Morrow county schools, Mrs Kathryn Christen son, La Grande, who formerly taught In Heppner and Sister Mary Salesia, Order of St Fran cis, who Is head of the art de partment of St Joseph s Acad emy in Pendleton. The group is working and planning on a community cook book, which it is hoped will be published by Christmas time. Anyone is welcome to contribute recipes and the group would ap preciate receiving them. The June meeting will be at the home of Mrs Jack Loyd with Mrs James J Farley as co-hostess on Tuesday June 16. Miss Glavey Honored By Fifth Grade The fifth grade class of Miss Margarite Glavey gave a sur prise party for her last Thurs day afternoon. Their room mothers, Mrs James Farley and Mrs Kenneth Batty were special guests. The class presented a corsage and gift to Miss Glavey and gifts to the room mothers. The room was trimmed with Dink and blue crepe paper and many colored balloons. Refreshments were served al ter games were played.
