The dinner was enjoyed to the music played by Noel Dob yns on the organ, and also the several numbers sung by Elaine Laird who was accompanied by Janice Martin. Soroptimist Club Guests At School For Luncheon Meeting The student council of HeDDner hieh school entert a 1 n e d the members of the Soroptimist Club of Heppner for luncheon at the school cafeteria last Thursday Gordon Pratt, principal of the high school, introduced Renn Harris, student bodv president, who introduced the other otiicers The school chorus, directed by Arnold Melby, sang two num bers. "Let There Be Music" and "Ride The Chariot" The male auartett. composed of Sam Green, Bob Huffman, Renn Harris and Stewart Gribble, sang "Go Down Moses" "Swing Low Sweet Char lot" and "Were You There." Mrs Floyd Adams, president of the Soroptimist club, express ed the appreciation of the mem bers for the luncheon ana pro gram. Wilsons Entertain At Saturday Party Mr and Mrs Tom Wilson en tertained at their home Satur day evening with refreshments and colored slides of their trip to Europe. Saturday, April 11 P-TA min strel show. Sorority Contest Losers Pay Debt The members of the Beta Omega chapter, ESA, lone held a contest last fall with their money making projects for the phaDter. Thev divided in two teams and had a contest to see which team could raise the most money with the stipulation that the losing side would have some kind of a party for the winners. On Tuesday evening, Marcn 24. the losing team treated the winning side to a trip to the show and refreshments. Those attending were Martha Peterson, Joan Warren, Eileen Hudson, Irene Leathers, Betty Hausler, Francine Crawford, Mary Mc- Leod, Marilyn Rietmann and Eu- Ipnna Corlev. There were quite a number who were unable to attend aue to flu and they missed a very enjoyable evening. Parish House Bright With Spring Flowers For Annual Party Fifteen tables were in play Monday evening at the annual Easter Mondav card party spon- anrwl hv the Women's Auxiliary of All Saints' Episcopal church, at the parish house. Arrangements of daffodils and blue Iris were used about the room. Tho committee in charge of the party were Mrs Frank Anderson, Mrs James J Farley, Mrs James Norene, Mrs Merritt Gray, Mrs William Labhart, Mrs Wlllard Blake and Mrs Paul Brown. Mr Don Bellenbrock received high score in bridge, Mrs Cres ton Robinson was second and Mrs Clarence Rosewall low. In pinochle Delbert Wright was high, Mrs Marina van acnoiacs second and Mrs John Lane low. Mrs Robert Dobbs received the door prize. The lovely spring weather has made this "skip ping" doubly enjoyable. Our county committee, who represent the extension units in the county, met at the home of Mrs Al Fetsch, Heppner, on March 23. Discussion centered mainly around the Homemakers Festival to be held at the lone grange hall on April 30th. I sub mitted a rough draft of the script for the pageant, "Yesteryears of Morrow County which will be Dresented bv the various units the afternoon of the festival. There will be 10 episodes to the Daeeant: The Comlner of the White Men and The Great Mi gration, by the Irrlgon unit; Earl Settlers of Morrow County; Pine Citv unit: What Was Pio neer Living Like, Lexington, Heppner and Pine City units; The Pioneer Church, lone; The Pioneer School, Lena unit; Pio neer Social Life, Rhea Creek; Early Villages in Morrow County, HeDDner. Hardman. lone, Lexing ton, by the Heppner, Rhea Creek, lone and Lexington units; Uth Century towns Irrigon and Boardman, by Boardman unit; and The Dedication by Pine City unit. Units are now busv collecting costumes and stage properties to make this one of the outstand ing events in Morrow county s celebration of the Oregon Cen tennial. We are due for Quito a turn over in the countv committee this coming year. Leaving are Mrs Milton Blegel, Irrlgon; Mrs Jasper Myers, Heppner; Mrs Dew- j ey West, Boardman; and Mrs Jerry Brosnan, Heppner; and Mrs Al Fetsch, Heppner. The present council members have plans to entertain the for mer council members of past years and the incoming mem bers at the home of Mrs Blegel, Irrigon on May 25. Speaking of Mrs Blegel, she hpcame a victim of the flu on county council day and spent the rest of the week in bed. bne was scheduled to be chief instructor at the "Tile-Craft" workshop In Pine City on March 24th, but "old man flu" decided differ ently. Consequently I pinch-hit for her that day. Twelve home makers and I had ourselves a Hnv of concentrating as we read the instructions and worked out the beaded tile mats. I think we all felt a little "cross-eyed" when the day was over. Wa hnva several tile kits on hand at the county agent's office if any unit or persons wouia like to purchase them. Thursday, April 2. 1959 4-H Club News 4-H CLOTHING LEADERS VISIT SINGER SHOP Six Morrow county 4-H leaders visited the Singer Shop in Pen dleton Friday, March 13, where they received the lesson on at tachments, the last of four les sons on "Getting the Most out of Your Sowing Machine." They were accompanied by Esther Kir mis, county extension agent. Mrs Dossier. Sinsrer sewing in structor, demonstrated the use of the buttonholer, seam guide, bias eauee. cordin? foot, edeestitcher, ruffler, and the automatic zig- zagger to the Morrow county leaders. All felt that they would make more use of their attach ments after the attachments were tried under Mrs Dcssler's supervision. This lesson closes a series of training meetings on "Getting agent's office by April L A committee will then eo over their applications and selection will be made to fill the county quota of 32 4-H members. By the way, Pine City exten sion unit, was again the first organization to donate a $25.00 scholarship towards summer school.
