S0CIAL Happeninss BERGSTROM-HUTTON VOWS EXCHANGED A double ring ceremony united Maryanne Hutton, daughter of Mr and Mrs Vernon Hutton of Isleton, California and Walter Carl Berpstrnm. Mrs Carl Bergstrom of lone, in marriage Sunday, Feb 22 at 2 p m in the Morris chapel at College of the Pacific in Stock ton, California. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of chantilly lace over taffeta and net, designed with a molded bo dice and a high neckline, very brief sleeves and It featured dainty lace mitts. Tiers of net pleating cascaded from beneath the lace peplum forming a grace ful chapel length train. Her fingertip veil scattered with tiny seed pearls, was secured with a Juliet cap. White roses and stephanotis fashioned the bridal bouquet. Marilyn Wilson of Alhambra was maid of honor; Mrs Gilbert Moore of Berkely, Marilyn Bals meier of Isleton and Mrs Lester Emigh of Rio Vista were brides maids. They wore identical gowns of Doir blue nylon chiffon and carried heart-shaped bou quets of white carnations. Dr Charles Schilling and soloist was Mrs Arthur Bergstrom of Portland. The bride's mother chose a gown of pink lace over taffeta with matching flower hat and white accessories. Attired in a gown of blue lace over taffeta with a brief bolero, the bride groom's mother wore matching hat and gloves. They both had corsages of white orchids. The bride attended the Isleton elementary school and is a grad uate of Rio Vista joint Union high school and also of Chico State College. The groom attended lone ele mentary and high schools, Pac ific University and Chico State College. He is a member of Lambdi Pi fraternity, Blue Key honor society and was vice presi dent of the student body at Chico State. He also served four years in the United States Navy. After March 1, the couple will be at home at 690 Calmar Ave, Oakland, California. Know Your County Program Theme For Soroptimist Club Miss Leta Humphreys was chairman for the "Know Your Morrow County" program at the Soroptimist club meeting last Thursday at O'Donnell's. Those assisting ner and read ing excerpts from the pamphlet compiled by the Morrow county extension units were Mrs Floyd Adams, Mrs William Collins, Mrs James Hager, Mrs James Thom son. Mrs Elaine S George brought old pictures of Heppner, which had been taken by her father, who for many years was a pho tographer in Heppner. Reneqers Club Sets Regular Meeting Date Mrs Frank Anderson hosted the Renegers bridge club at the home of Mrs James Farley Wed nesday evening of last week. The guests were: Mrs Dick Meador, Mrs James Norene, Mrs Alex Thompson, Mrs LaVerne Van Marter, Mrs Bill Labhart, Mrs Gene Hall, Mrs Paul Webb, Mrs Eddie Gunderson, Mrs Gor don Pratt, and Mrs Bill Barratt. Mrs Barratt won high prize for the evening, Mrs Van Marter won second high, and Mrs Pratt was low. Refreshments were served and afterwards, discussion was held about setting a regular meeting flme. Local Royal Arch Take Part in Festival Officers of Heppner Chapter No 26, Royal Arch Masons took part Saturday, Feb 28, in the York Rite festival at Pendleton. De grees were conferred on 21 can didates at the all day affair. Can didates of the local chapter were Robert Abrams, Heppner, and Donavon Hampton and Donald W Rich of Arlington. The Mark Master degree work done by the La Grande chapter, the Past Master degree by the Pendleton chapter, the Most Ex cellent Master degree by the Ba ker chapter, and the final degree, that of Royal Arch, by the Hepp ner chapter. Officers taking part were Paul Jones, acting High Priest; Oliver Creswick, King; Dick Logan, Scribe; Harold Becket, Captain of Hosts; Clarence Bauman, Prin cipal Sojourner; Claude Graham, Royal Arch Captain; Les Grant, Master of the Third Veil; Frank Davidson, Master of the Second Veil, and Marion Hayden, Mas ter of the First Veil. J O Turner gave the lecture to the candi dates. Other Heppner members present were Charles Stout, Steve Thompson, and Blaine Isom. Heppner ladies spending the day in Pendleton while their hus bands attended the festival were Mrs Harold Becket, Mrs Marion Hayden, Mrs Claude Graham, and Mrs Frank Davidson. Mrs Charles Stout accompanied Mr Stout from Enterprise. These la dies by special invitation were present at a no-host dinner at the VFW hall for all York Rite members and candidates attend ing the Festival. In the evening, degrees of the Council of Royal and Select Mas ters were conferred by the Pen dleton and Baker Councils. Nels Anderson Home Scene of Coffee Hour A Hospital Auxiliary coffee hour was held at the home of Mrs Nels Anderson Thursday morning. Mrs C C Jones, presi dent gave a brief summary of the hospital auxiliary plans and projects that are forth-coming. Those attending the meeting were Mrs Jones and Mrs Ken neth Palmer, both of Lexington, Mrs Robert Abrams, Mrs Robert Jones, Mrs Wallace Wolff, Mrs Vic Kreimeyer, Mrs Ralph Rich mond, Mrs Orval Matheny, Mrs John Rydgren, Mrs Dean Shaver, Mrs Don Evans, Mrs Jerry Dag gett, Mrs Bill Gentry, Mrs Ken neth Batty, Mrs David Eckman, and Mrs Bruce Spencer. In the presence of the immed iate families and close friends, the double ring ceremony was read by the Rev Willis Geyer. Incidental music was played pre ceding the ceremony by Char- lene Jones of Lexington. The bride was lovely In a sky blue faille and linen suit, blue hat and white accessories and she had a pink rose corsage. After a trip to Portland the young couple will be at home in Lexington where Mr Breed ing is employed. lone Sorority Has Chinese Party The Beta Omega chapter of Ep silon Sigma Alpha met at the home of Mrs Franclne Crawford Wednesday evening, Feb 25. Other hostesses were Mrs Mary McLeod, Mrs Betty Rietmann, Mrs Irene Leathers, Mrs Eileen Hudson and Mrs Dee Shockley. The room was decorated In oriental decorations and the members wore oriental dresses. Four hand painted Japanese Lanterns were made by Mrs Leathers, which were very clever. Chinese noodles and tea were served from tables placed flat on the floor. Guests sat on the floor and ate with chop sticks. A skit was given by Mrs Hud son and Mrs Leathers and Chin ese checkers were played. Mrs Eileen Padberg received the prize". Several were present from Heppner, where a chapter will be started soon. It was reported that the chap ter had collected $152.75 for the Heart Fund. Annual Blue and Gold Banquet Given For Cubs Wednesday The Blue and Gold Cub Scout banquet was held Wednesday evening at the American Legion hall with more than one hundred in attendance, including the cub scouts and their parents. Jack Loyd was master of cere monies and the Rev Lester Boul den gave the invocation, The many awards were given by William Labhart. David An derson led the flag salute and the cub scout pledge was led by Douglas Anderson. The Den Mothers were in charge of the banquet and they were Mrs Riley Munkers, Mrs Ray Massey, Mrs Orval Matheny, Mrs Leon Ball, Mrs Ralph Rich mond, and Mrs Labhart. After dinner, cartoon movies were shown. Pinochle Club Meets At Glenn Smith Home Mrs Glenn Smith entertained her pinochle club at her home Thursday evening. Her guests were Mrs LeRoy Gardner, Mrs Jack Van Winkle, Mrs Clarence Johnson, Mrs Mer- ritt Gray, Mrs Stanley Holm, Mrs L L Robblns and Mrs Riley Mun kers.
