Ben Hlnton of John Day Is staying at the Henry Durst home here for some time recuperating from his illness. He is a brother of Mrs Durst and Ivy Barnard. Mr. and Mrs Dave Ogle drove to Service Creek Thursday to vis it their son, Phil and family. Mr and Mrs Theron King and son, Earl came In from Pendle ton to spend the weekend here at their ranch. They recently pur chased a home In Pendleton where Earl goes to school. John J Simas of LaGrande was in town visiting at the home of George Stirritt, Earl Barnard and Henry Durst a few days last week. Mr and Mrs Fred Shanks and Mr and Mrs George Stirritt were in John day Monday on busi ness. Miss Sharon Hinton was home a few days last week from her school In Portland. Mr and Mrs Harold Wright of Rhea Creek were in Wednesday visiting her mother, Mrs Wave Jackson and his uncle, George Capon. Mrs Harold Cork held the home extension class Wednesday which was on cooking and serving a meal. Mr and Mrs Fred Gassner, her mother, Mrs George Morrell and Mr and Mrs Earl Barnard made a business trip to Bend lsat week. Mr and Mrs George Capon made a trip to John Day Thurs day. Mrs Stanley Corley of Long Creek was visiting In the Wil liams home Monday. Owen Smith Is doing some carpenter work at the George Morrell home. Mrs Milton Morgan and Mr and Mrs Bob Holmes returned home Thursday evening from Sacramento, Calif where they had been for a week for the funeral of his grandmother Holmes. Victor DuBosch rode to Port land last week with Vern Mc carty. He purchased a tractor while there. McCarty hauled It back on the truck. Mr and Mrs Fred Gassner re turned home Tuesday from a trip to Portland with stock. The M M M club met Thursday with Mary DuBosch the hostess at the Brown home. They tacked another quilt for defense work. Get well cards were sent to the sick members. Next meeting will be February 19 at the home of Mrs Henry Martin. George Capon and Walter Wil liams are among the sick this week. Mr and Mrs Ed Rounds return ed Sunday evening from Bend where they had been visiting their son, Melvln and family for the past two weeks. Mr and Mrs Ansel Martin of Prlnevllle drove over for the weekend, bringing her sister and three children, Mrs Forrest Nol- nad of Portland, up to stay with her folks, Mr and Mrs Ernie Johnson. Mr and Mrs Lllburn Hunt and children moved to Long Creek Friday. He will work for Alton McBride. They were assisted in moving by Mary Llppert and Lon Merrell. Mr and Mrs Sonny Hiesey and daughter spent the weekend at Ritter with his folks. lone News -riff . Mrs Charlotte Shuey of The Dalles spent a few days the first of the week with her brother and family, Mr and Mrs Ralph Crum. Mr and Mrs James Botts return ed home Monday from Portland where they have been visiting their daughter and family, Mr and Mrs Ronald Fahl. The Fahl children returned home with them . Mrs Ralph Crum gave a birth day party for her d a u g li ter, Kathy, Saturday, Feb 7. She was 5 years old. There were 21 children present and 8 adults.
