New lone City Dads Take Office By ECHO PALMATEER City officials taking the oath of office at the city council meet ing Tuesday evening, Jan 6 were Charles O'Connor, mayor; Mrs Howard Crowell, recorder; Mrs Echo Palmateer, treasurer; James Barnett, Bill Rietmann, Mrs Ro bert DeSpain and Omar Riet mann, councilmen. Omar Riet mann was appointed to fill the vacancy in the office held by was the outgoing mayor. The mayor appointed the fol lowing committees for the year: water, Roy Lindstrom, Fredrick Martin and James Barnett; street and city properties, Martin Llnd strom and Barnett; finance, Omar Rietmann and Mrs DeSpain; health and police, Omar Riet mann, Bill Rietmann and Mrs De Spain. The council voted to pur chase patching equipment from Milton Morgan. Others of the,the ciJy HfPPne" Thev, a,ls0 council are Roy Lindstrom and Fredrick Martin. They returned to their home on the 28th. Mr and Mrs Norman DuBosch of LaGrande was here for Christ mas with their folks, Mr and Mrs Charlie Roach and Mr and Mrs Victor DuBosch. Mr and Mrs Ansel Martin of Prineville spent Christmas here with his folks, the Henry Mar tins. They took their son Gary home with them after a visit of two weeks with his grandparents. Mrs Bob Neal was a business caller in Heppner on Friday. Jack Slocum was in from his home in Washington. He visited his dad, Lee and brother Gerald, the past week, returning home Sunday. Mr and Mrs Lilburn Hunt and children and Dale Matteson spent Saturday evening at the Sam Scott home. Miss Caroline Martin and Charlie Williams left Sunday for Pasco where they will attend school.
