The annual conference, co sponsored by the Oregon Feed and Seed Dealers association and OSC, will examine ways to tia supplements in prepared feeds to total energy level of the feed rather than body weight of indi vidual animals, reports Dr J E Oldfield, OSC animal husband man who is program chairman. Need for this technique is a rather logical outgrowth of the movement of automation Into animal agriculture, the program committee pointed out. Individ ual feeding is becoming Increas ingly difficult as laiger and larger herds and flocks are handled by farmers, it was ex plained. Out-of-state speakers at the two-day conference will Include Dr Fred Hill, poultry nutritionist at Cornell University, and Dr A J Wood, animal nutritionist at the University of British Colum bia. Dr C A Bottoroff of the Amer ican Cynamid company, Pearl River, N Y, will outline future trends of research in the feed Industry, and discuss recent de velopments in poultry and turkey diseases. OSC staff members will also present papers at the conference, reporting on research at the OSC agricultural experiment station. All Interested persons are wel come to attend conference sess ions, Oldfield said. Meetings will be held in Withycombe hall auditorium at OSC.
