liams church, met at the home
of Mrs Gar Swanson Thursday
evening, Nov 20 with Mrs Pat
Doherty as co-hostess. At the
meeting the following officers
were elected for the coming year:
Mrs Howard Crowell, president;
Mrs Charles Doherty, vice-president;
Mrs David Baker, secretary
and Mrs Donald McElligott,
treasurer.
Mr and Mrs E W Bristow and
Mrs Ernest McCabe made a trip
to Portland one day last week.
They visited at the Tommy Bris
tow home. Katrina Bristow re
turned home with them for a
visit

ing the holidays with her daugh
ter and family, Mr and Mrs
Dwlght Haugen in Oswego.
Mrs Robert DeSpain entertain
ed the Bridge club at her home
Friday evening of last week. Mrs

Mrs Delmer Crawford, low.
The H E C of Willows grange
held a very successful bazaar,
food and pie and coffee sale at
the Rebekah hall Friday, Nov
21. They also served a dinner to
the Morrow County Grain Grow
ers in Heppner Monday evening,
Nov 17 and cleared $240.
The Jimmie Morgans moved
into the Mabel Davidson house
on second street
Leann Padberg was elected
queen and Greg Leyva was elec
ted king at the carnival at the
school Friday evening, Nov 21.
Proceeds of the carnival went to
the grade and high school stu
dent bodies.

turned home Thursday of last
week from a two weeks trip.
They went to San Francisco and
to Los Angeles where they visited
Mr and Mrs Robert DeSpain.
They returned home by way of
Las Vegas.
Mr and Mrs Oscar George are
the parents of a son, born Nov
17 at The Dalles hospital. Weight
8 lb and 714 oz. Mr and Mrs
Harvey Smith of lone are the
grand parents.

The 4-H leaders training in
sewing was held at the home of
Mrs Louis Carlson, Friday. The
leaders are, Mrs Carlson, Mrs
C E Brenner, Mrs L A McCabe,
Mrs Merritt Gray, Mrs Andrew
Van Schoiack and Mrs Kenneth
Batty. Miss Esther Kirmis, dem
onstration agent, was also pres
ent. The next meeting will be
in Pendleton, Dec 12.
Recent visitors at the Robert
DeSpain home were, Mr and Mrs
Tony DeSpain of Cascade Locks
and Fred Painter, Sr, of Port
land. Lt LeRoy Brenner of Moses
Lake Air Force base, spent tlje
weekend with his parents, Mr
and Mrs c E Brenner.
A large crowd attended the
card party at the Masonic hall
Saturday evening which was
sponsored by the Eastern Star
Social club. Those winning prizes
were in pinochle; Herbert Ek
strom and Mrs Edna Turner,
high; Verner Troedson and Mrs
Franklin Lindstrom, low and Mrs
Walter Corley, 300 pinochle. In
bridge, Mrs E R Lundell, high;
Mrs Arvilla Swanson, low and
Mrs Walter Ruggles, Jack high;
Lewis Halvorsen received the
door prize. Linda Rowell drew
the doll and wardrobe. Refresh
ments were served by members
of the club.
The members of the P-TA serv
ed a chili supper in the school
cafetorium Friday evening or last
week and cleared around $25.

18 members of the Pilgrim
Fellowship high school group of
the Community church cleaned
up the city park Saturday. Mr,
and Mrs William Rawlins, Rev,
Floyd Bailey, Robert Bailey and
Mrs Fredrick Martin also assis
ted. Following the clean up the
group were given a party at the
Ray Heimblgner home. The group
were paid $20 by the Garden
club which went toward their
pledge for the Fellowship. They
now have their pledge fulfilled.
Mr and Mrs Dallas Shockley
are spending a few days in Spo
kane, where he is attending an
educational meeting. Her mother,
Mrs Peterson of Battleground,
Wash is staying with the Shock
ley children.
