During the church hour, memory work was given by the children promoted into the jolly juniors and Bibles were presented by their teacher, Mrs David Rietmann to Betty Hausler, Marlene Crawford, Merrilee Ja cobs, Charles Nelson, Bill Mc Leod, Terry O'Connor, Kathy Keene and Renee Leathers. In the jolly junior class memory work was given and Bibles pre sented by their teacher, Gary Tullis to Deniece Matthews, Ber niece Matthews, Linda Rowell, Pamela Proudfoot, Pamela Mc Cabe, Karen Nelson, Cheryle Smouse, Susan Lindstrom, Kathy Hausler, Virgil Morgan, Jim Ja cobs, Mark Halvorsen, and Tim Tullis. Memory work was given by the juniors who were Bobby Lee DeSpain, Steven Lindstrom, Cheryle Lundell, Arleta McCabe, Frances McLeod, Joe Halvorsen, and Tommie Melena. Edna Yarnell of Portland is visiting her daughter and family, Mr and Mrs Charles O'Connor for a few days. - John Arthur Ekstrom infant son of Mr and Mrs Herbert Ek strom is in the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. Mrs James Pettyjohn was hos tess of the pinochle club at her home Wednesday evening. Those winning prizes were Mrs Arthur Warren high, Mrs Howard Crow ell, low and Mrs Rodger Kin caid received the door prize. Mr- and Mrs C B Senseney of Portland, Mrs Viletta Wood and Mrs Blythe Butler of Los Angeles were recent visitors of Mr and Mrs Charles Hudson and family. Floyd Wiles is a patient in the ! Pioneer Memorial hospital in IT neppner. The Three Links club met at the home of Mrs Harvev Ring on Thursday with Mrs Cleo Drake and Mrs Lewis Ball co-hostess. A surprise hanky shower was held in honor of Mrs Walter Ro berts' birthday. Plans were made tor the election day dinner. Mrs Omar Rietmann received the door prize. Mr and Mrs W G Seehafer are moving from Bickleton to Board man where they have purchased a ranch. Mr and Mrs Clarence Brenner left Tuesday to spend a few days in Portland. The Pilgrim Fellowship group sponsored a program of oriental pictures and a oriental display brought here by Mr and Mrs Stu art Goude of the Condon Com munity church. Mr and Mrs Goude brought these displays home from the Orient after his tour of duty in the Armed Forces. Mr Goude was a chaplain in the Army and Mrs Goude was a missionary for about 20 years. Mr and Mrs Goude showed and narrated the slides taken in the orient during the evening. A sil ver tea was held afterwards. The tea table was decorated with bronze candles and bronze chrys anthemums. Those pouring were Mrs Roy Lindstrom, Mrs Earl McCabe. Mrs Wallace Matthews, and Mrs Louis Halvorsen. The proceeds of the silver tea will ap ply on the pledge of the state convention the group made. Mr and Mrs Stuart Goude were dinner guest of Rev and Mrs Bailey Sunday evening. Mrs Adon Hamlett was hos tess of a card party in honor of her husbands birthday Saturday evening. Guests were, Mr and Mrs Ed Bristow, Mr and Mrs Mil ton Morgan, Mr and Mrs Lloyd Morgan, Mr and Mrs Charles 0' Connor, Mr and Mrs Herbert Ek strom, Mr and Mrs Garland Swanson, and Mr and Mrs David Baker. Mrs Charles O'Connor and Lloyd Morgan received high priz es, Mr and Mrs Ed Bristow re ceived' low prizes. Mr and Mrs Charles Hudson and family were guests of Mr and Mrs Ronald Johnson at Adams Sunday. Mrs Ed Bergstrom returned home from the hospital Satur day evening. Mr and Mrs Franklin fciy spent the weekend in Portland. Mr and Mrs Berl Akers and family spent the weekend in Port land and Forest Grove. They at tended the Portland State vs Pa cific University game in Portland Saturday. Mr and Mrs Robert Peterson returned last week from Kanv loops, B C after visiting her bro ther and family, Mr and Mrs Larry Lovgren. Mr and Mrs Hugh Salter spent the weekend at Milton Freewater where they visited their son and family, Mr and Mrs Gaylord Sal ter. Mr and Mrs Harold Snider and family also visited there on Sunday. John Peterson enrolled last week at Portland State college. Mr and Mrs Dean Rohde of Echo and Mr and Mrs Victor Rietmann were dinner guests of Mrs Robert Rietmann Sunday. I The Maranatha food sale and ! baazar was held at the Rebekah I hall on Friday, Sept 26. 5158.90 'was taken in on the sale of ar ticles during the afternoon. A pie and coffe sale was also held. Mrs Bryce Keene is the president. I Mrs Bill Rietmann cut her fing er severely one day last week and was taken to the doctor where she received stitches in it. The Pilgrim Fellowship group held a party at the home of Linda Halvorsen on Saturday j evening. Games were played and I dancing enjoyed during the even-' ing. Mr and Mrs Robert Jepsen spent the weekend in Portland. Virginia Jepsen returned to Port land with them. Billie and Susan Jane Jepsen spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr and Mrs C L Lieuallen in Pendle ton. Mrs Betty Lieuallen spent the weekend in Bremerton, Washing ton visiting her son, Mr and Mrs Fred Painter. Mr and Mrs Herbert Peterson! HEPPNER GAZETTE -TIMES. Mr and Mrs Roy Pettyjohn and Jimmie of The Dalles spent the weekend visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs James Lindsay. Mr and Mrs Duane Baker and daughter, returned last week to Menlo Park, Calif after spending the past month visiting relatives here. Duane is attending Stan ford University. Mr and Mrs Frank Helina, Jr, and Joan of Seattle spent the weekend visiting with Mrs Anna Lindstrom and other relatives. Mrs John Proudfoot, Mrs Charl es O'Connor and Mrs Roy Lind strom drove to Portland one day last week. Mrs Lindstrom re mained there until Friday.
