Mrs Claude Graham entertain
ed the Sewing Club Wednesday
afternoon at luncheon at her
home on the Lexington highway.

The club presented Mrs Wil
son with a bon voyage gift. The
Wilsons left Saturday on a four
months tour of Europe.
Mrs Pierce and Mrs McQuarrle
were welcomed as new members
of the club.
Mr and Mrs Alfred Mattoon
spent last weekend at the coast
and Mrs Mattoon remained In
Portland for a few days.

Kononen.
Miss Brosnan is the 1958 recip
nent of the club's college scholar
ship and she told of her plans
for the coming year. Miss Konon
en received the scholarship in
1957 and she told the club about
some of the interesting things
that happened during her first
year at Oregon State college.

field was also a guest at the
meeting.

the coming marriage , of their
daughter, Sharon to Capt Law
rence E Trout of the U S Air
Force, Mather Air Force Base,
California.
They will be married Sunday,
September 7 at 2:00 pm at the
Air Base chapel. A reception will
follow at the officers club.
Mr and Mrs Rill will leave the
first part of September to attend
the ceremony.

the Bull Prairie guard station to
celebrate the birthday of Mrs
Sam McDaniel.

to play in an invitational tour

They were guests at the Henry

been spending the past three
weeks at the home of Mr and
Mrs Richard Cox.
Mrs Owen Smith drove to Pen
dleton Thursday taking her sis
ter to catch a train back to her
home in Montana.
Mr and Mrs Ed What and son
of Kinzua visited at the George
Capon home Sunday.
Son Hill and daughter Jean,
and Kay Swlck left Wednesday
morning for Portland with a load
of stock.
Mr and Mrs Robert Gertson
returned Monday from their hon
eymoon in Canada. Her two child
ren, who had spent the past
month with their grandparents
In Portland, returned with them.

were in John Day Saturday.

Mr and Mrs Clayton Sweek and
two sons of Springfield arrived
Saturday to visit her sister and
family, the Verne McCartys. Sun
day they took their niece Miss
Elaine Reynolds with them on a
two weeks trip to Yellowstone
National park.

ornia arrived August 16 to visit
his folks, the Elmo Lewis family
and his sister, Mrs Ray Davis,
until Labor Day.

creek at the Verne Mccany
ranch.

aid for Robert Scott

Judith Grant to catch the plane
to their home in Kitchlner, On
tario. Canada. Thev have been
visiting here since the first of
August.

for their home in California, af
ter a family dinner at the Matte
son home. Those attending the
dinner were Dale Matteson of
Heppner, Doris and Bob King
man, Sam, Jessie and Robert
Scott, and Mr and Mrs Elmer
Matteson.

time at her daughters, Cora Stub

are In Portland.

The state forestry office here
is busy getting a new drain field
put in the septic tank for the
house and office.
Mr and Mrs Ed Rounds went
to Madras Sunday taking their
two grandsons home and will
visit a few days with their son
and wife, Mr and Mrs Melvin
Rounds.
