A heavy rain and hail storm struck west of lone and in the Morgan community Friday after noon, June 6. Considerable dam age was done to the wheat and barley by the hail. A hail storm went through some of the same area last year on June 5. Reports of the Rebekah As sembly were given at the Bunch grass Rebekah lodge meeting Thursday evening of last week by Mrs Cleo Drake, Mrs Cecil Thome and Mrs Wallace Mat thews. Visitors at the lodge from the Lexington lodee were. Mrs Arthur Keene, Mrs Alvin Wagon- blast, Mrs Archie Munkers, Mrs Oris Padberc and Mrs Armin Wihlon. The lodge was asked to send members the third Thurs day to visit patients at the Pio neer Memorial hospital from 2 to 4 pm. After the meeting re freshments were served by Mrs Wate Crawford, Mrs Ernest Hell ker, Mrs Harvey Ring and Mrs Lewis Ball. Weekend visitors at the Dale Ray home were Mr and Mrs Bill Brashers of Lyle, Wash, and Mr and Mrs John Rav and children of Umatilla. Mr and Mrs Holmes Gabbert of Portland and grandchildren, Lynn Ann Meyer of Portland i and Kelly Gabbert of Palo Alto, California are staying at his ranch which is operated by Wal lace Matthews. The GaDoerts spent three months in the Ha wiian Islands recently. Mrs G V Crumb of Morton, Washington is visiting her mo ther, Mrs Grace Ware. Mr and Mrs Donald Brashers of Lyle, Washington are the par ents of a daughter, Carol Kay, born May 28. Mr and Mrs Bill Brashers of Lyle and Mr and Mrs Enard of Goldendale, Washing ton are the grandparents and Mr and Mrs Dale Ray of lone are the great grand parents. Mrs Elmer Holtz entertained at a pinochle party at her home Tuesday evening of last week with Mrs Martin Jannsen as co-hostess. Those receiving prizes were Mrs Arthur Warren, high; Mrs Holtz, low; Mrs Roger Kincaid, 300 pinochcle and Mrs Pat Do herty, the door prize. Mrs Paul Pettyjohn, Mrs Anna : Llndstrom, Mrs E R Lundell and Mrs 0 L Lundell made a trip to Portland Thursday of last week. They visited Mrs Beulah Lundell there and helped her celebrate her birthday. They also visited at the home of Mr and Mrs Leonard Carlson. Members of the Extension Unit honored Mrs Bryce Keene with a baby shower at the home of Mrs Elmer Holtz Thursday after noon, June 5. The hostesses were Mrs Leo Crabtree, Mrs Ed Ba ker and Mrs Holtz. W E Melena left last week for Nebraska where he will attend the 50th wedding anniversary of his sister. Mrs Melena will join him Sunday, June 8. She made the trip by plane. They will then take an extended trip through the east. Mrs David Rietmann attended the graduation exercises at Whitman college in Walla Walla Sunday, May 27. Mrs Lana Padberg returned home Tuesday of last week from the hospital in Pendleton. Mr and Mrs Park Nelson of Walla Walla visited at the M G Greer home Sunday. They took their children, Mike and Lynn Greer back home with them. The Valby Lutheran church Missionary society met at the home of Mr and Mrs Donald Pet erson Sunday afternoon.
