Dalles to make their home in Heppner. Mrs Suter, Mrs Charl ton and Charles Beckett attend ed the wedding ceremony per formed fifty years ago. Presiding at the punch bowl was Mrs Kyle Charlton. During the earlier part of the reception, Mrs Glaesmer and Mrs Des Georges served the cake and cof fee; later Mrs Suter and Mrs Harley Anderson, nieces of Mr Becket, served these refresh ments. Mrs Charles Eeckett was in charge of the guest book. .Mr and Mrs Walter Becket gave a luncheon Saturday for thirty three relatives and friends. Mr and Mrs Laurence Becket en tertained with a buffet supper at their ranch home Saturday evening for the relatives. Mr and Mrs Fred Parrish gave a dinner Sunday for members of the im mediate family preceding the reception. gociAL -AppENings Mrs Hughes Gives Review At Bookworms Mrs W E Hughes reviewed the book, "Below the Salt" by Thom as Costain at a meeting of the Bookworms Tuesday night at the home of Mrs Cornett Green. Members attending were Mrs Lucy Peterson, Mrs Floyd Jones, Mrs Fred Parrish, Mrs Jack Flug, Mrs Ike Cole, Mrs J O Turner, Mrs Ted Smith, Mrs James Thomson and Mrs Harold Beck et. Mrs Phil Smith was a club guest. Hamm-Hughes Vows Repeated Monday At Methodist Church A candlelight ceremony read by Rev Lester Boulden in the Methodist church at 8 pm Mon day, June 2, united in marriage Miss Margaret Jean Hughes, daughter of Mr and Mrs Elwyn Hughes, and Marion Thomas Hamm of North Carolina. The church was beautifully decorated with pink peonies and snapdragons. Mrs Fred Gimbel at the organ played "Because" and accompanied Mrs Lester Boulden as she sang "O Perfect Love". The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a street length white sheath dress of nylon lace over taffeta and carried a bouquet of white or chids and stephanotis. Mrs Col leen Bailey, the honor attend ant, wore a black and white cotton knit suit with white ac cessories and wore a corsage of white orchids. Miss Sheryl Har ris lit the candles. Best man was Marcel Talbot from New Hampshire. The mother of the bride wore a gray gown with pink acces sories and wore a corsage of pink carnations. The grand mothers, Mrs N D Bailey and Mrs Grace Hughes, both of Heppner, were dressed in Navy blue and wore corsages of pink carnations. At the reception in the church parlors, following the ceremony, the grandmothers poured tea and coffee. Mrs Mike Saling pre sided at the punch bowl. After the bride and groom had cut the traditional . first slice, Mrs Creston Robinson and Mrs Matt Hughes served the beautiful three-tiered cake. Mrs Larry Huffman was in charge of the guest book. The bride graduated from Heppner high school with the class of 1958. The groom is with the United States Air Force, sta tioned at Condon. The couple will make their home in Heppner. - fV, 'I Soroptimists Meet At Hamlin Home Soroptimist International of Heppner held a sack lunch Thursday at the home of Mrs Frank Hamlin. Birthday cake was served in honor of Mrs James Hager, Mrs W C Collins, Mrs Floyd Adams, Mrs Robert Dobbs and Mrs trank Connor. Plans were discussed for the annual installation banquet to be held Saturday evening, June 14 at the Christian church.' Surprise Given For Mrs Larry Cook Mrs Larry Cook was surprised last Wednesday at her home on Morgan street when a number of friends of Camp 5 came and pre sented her with a lovely colon ial bedspread. The group also brought and served the fried chicken lunch to the following, Mabel Cox, Steven and Tracy Lynn, Ella Moore, Camilla Samples, Ardian Reed, Ann Bastian, Virginia Les lie and Donna, Velda Miller and Diana, Signe Anderson, Lola Fer rel, Nora Hall, Marie Rhoton, Lorraine Rice, Shirley Mabe, Tiny Sears, Helen Gilbert, Mar garet Waldvogel, Eva DeMerritt. Attending from Heppner were Betty Rood, Else Leathers and Janet Gentry. Mrs Hudson Presents Students In Recital Mrs D E Hudson presented her piano students in the last of a series of nine monthly recitals at her home Wednesday even ing. Special numbers included a trio by Sandra Harshman, Pat ty Mahon and Marie Pettyjohn; a duet by Barbara and Stephen Cearley and a duet by Eddie Howard and Mrs D E Hudson. Five students receiving sheet music for perfect attendance at all recitals were Mary Evelyn Tucker, Cheryl Bellenbrock, El die Howard, Marie Pettyjohn and Patty Mahon. Students Derforming in the re cital were Patty Mahon, Shirley Nash, Sharon uuncn, Joyce case beer, Mary Evelyn Tucker, Carol K Anderson.
