Jack Flug, Morrow county school superintendent, spoke on "The Quest For Peace of Mind" to the eighth grade graduating class of Boardman school Tues day night of last week in the gymnasium. The processional and recessional were played by the school band. Invocation was by Sigvald O Aase, school super intendent. Patty Miller and Den nis Gronquist played a cornet duet. Ted Hoffman played a solo on the baritone horn. Richard Waymire, seventh and eighth grade teacher, presented the class to Harold Kress, school board chairman, who pre sented the diplomas to class members Keith Granquist, Tim othy Malone, Chloe McQuaw, Robert Obermeier and Richard Watts. Benediction was by Sigvald O Aase. Following the exercises pupils of the seventh grade and their mothers were hosts for a dinner in honor of the graduates and their parents in the school cai- eteria. Mr and Mrs Royal Rands were hosts for a party at their home last wfpk in honor of Mr and Mrs Brice Dillabaugh of Salem, who visited friends here last week. Present were Mr and Mrs Rav Brown. Mr and Mrs Nate Macomber, Mr and Mrs Glen Carpneter, Mr and Mrs Artnur Allpn. and Mr and Mrs Joe Ta- tont and Linda and Jody. Mrs Tatone is Dillabaugh's niece. Mr and Mrs Nate Macomber entertained at dinner at their home Thursday night in honor of Mr and Mrs Dillabaugh. Other guests were Mr and Mrs Ray Brown and Mr and Mrs. Roy Rands. Mr and Mrs Joe Tatone en tertained in the Saddle Room of the Hitchin' Post cafe in honor of Mr and Mrs Dillabaugh Fri day evening.' They also honored Mr and Mrs Royal Rands on their wedding anniversary. Oth er guests included Wanda Forth man and Linda and Jody Ta tone. The Hermiston Men's Bowling Association held their annual banquet Saturday night in the Saddle Room of the Hitchin' Post cafe. Dinner was served to 104 persons. John Cermak of Hermiston was master of cere monies. Many trophies and awards for the year were given to members. Special guests were Col Cam Longley and Mrs Long ley of Umatilla Ordnance De pot. Mr and Mrs Elvin Ely and daughter Eileen and Mrs Rus sell Miller arid daughter Patty attended the graduation exer tIsps in lone last Thursday night. Their nephew, Berl Akers, was among the graduates. Mr and Mrs Ray Conyers of Bremerton, Wash spent last week here on business. Mrs Florah Schroder of De lake is visiting at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Earl Briggs. Mrs Joe Tatone went to Salem Monday , to. be a guest of the Junior Women's club installation of officers there. Mrs Blanche Barlow of Hepp ner and her sister, Mrs Alma Gilliam of Portland visited at the home of Mrs Barlow's brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Claud Coats Saturday. Mrs Irene Beal of Fort Lewis, Wash visited her brother, Roy Rordell, at the home of Mr and Mrs Arthur Allen, last Thurs day on her way home from Salt Lake City, Utah. Rordell accom panied her to Fort Lewis to vis it. Mrs Florence Root left for Riv erside, California last .week to attend the graduation exercises of Calvary Baptist college there May 26. Her brother-in-law, Ed Barlow, is among the graduates. Mrs Zearl Gillespie accompan ied Mr and Mrs Carl Marquardt of Lexington to Fort Lewis, Wash last Thursday to visit Pfc Donald Gillespie in the Madigan Army hospital there. Albert Deulen of Portland vis ited his niece, Rosemary Deulen and friends here last Thursday. The Ladies Aid Society of Community church met Wednes day afternoon of last week in the church basement. With Mrs Arthur Allen and Mrs Clyde Tannehill as hostesses. Mrs Mar garet Klitz was in charge of the missionary program. There were 14 present Mrs Bob Hilder of San Ber nardino, Calif is visiting her fa ther, Charles Nickerson. Carlson funeral at the Val by Lutheran church Sunday were Mr and Mrs Leonard Carl son and Mr and Mrs Clifford Carlson of Portland, Mr and Mrs Robert Hope of Eugene, Mrs J P Darst of Salem and Mr and Mrs Edgar Anderson of The Dalles. Mr and Mrs Ellis Pettyjohn and family and Debbie and Cin dy Barnett of Heppner spent Sunday at the Ray Barnett home. Visitors at the Barnett home last week were Mrs Josephine Bu chanan of Irrigon and Mrs Fran ces Smith of Hermiston. Lyle Kincald is spending a few days in Portland. While fishing in a local stream last week, Melvin Martin caught a trout 18'4 inches long. Henry Clark, Johan Troedson and Carl Troedson attended the high school graduating exercis es in Hermiston Tuesday even ing. Mr Clark's granddaughter, Alecia Swales was a member of the graduating class. Mr and Mrs Franklin Ely and granddaughter, Anita Crawford, spent the weekend in Forest Grove where they visited their son and family, Mr and Mrs Fayne Ely.
