AR TICLE XL STATE CONSTITUT ION. Notice is hereby given that an election will be held in School Districts 10, 25, 35cj, 40,lcj and 12 of Morrow County, State of Ore gon, on May 12, 1958. The elect ion will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the above date, being Monday, May 12, 1958 A.D. Such elections will be held in the school house in each of the said component districts. The purpose of submitting to the le gal voters of said districts the question of increasing the tax levy for the fiscal year 1958-59 over the amount limited by Sect ion II, Article XI, of the Consti tution of Oregon. The reasons for increasing such levy are: 1. The low tax base due to the fact that some districts lost their base entirely and others could only be Increased by the legal allowed 6 per year. 2. Increas ed cost in maintaining build ings and making needed repairs. 3. Increases in teachers' salaries. 4. High cost of supplies and equipment and repairs to some of our older buildings. 5. A mounts allowed for the purchase, in the future, of new school bus ses. The total base of all Districts in Morrow County Rural School District is $163,319.44. Mary Ann Johnson, reporter QUIN COOKERETTES The Quin Cookerettes met at the home of Dianna Pettyjohn April 2 at 2:30. Refreshments were served of angel cake with Ice cream and strawberries. After we had vis ited for awhile, we did our dem onstration that we are planning on doing at the fair. Mardine Baker demonstrated making a pie crust, Linda Halv orsen and Dianna demonstrated the correct way to set a table and how to correctly serve a table. Marilyn Morgan is planning on Dairy Foods, but did not have her demonstration ready. Our leader, Mrs Baker, told us how to improve our demonstrations. Our next meeting will be held at Linda Halvorsen's on April 16 at 2:30.
