Mrs E M Baker was the organist. Mass and the benediction were held at St Williams Catholic church at 9 AM. The Easter program at the Nazarene church consisted of songs and recitations by the nur sery, primary and junior classes. The story, The Cross Speaks, and a solo, Were You There, by Rev Charles Wilkes. This was follow ed by the morning worship. A movie, I Beheld His Glory, was shown at the Baptist church Sunday evening; a musical pag eant written by Mrs Bill Collier put on by Mr and Mrs John Hat field, Miss Louise Botts, Mrs Bill Marquardt, Mrs Carl Marquardt and Mrs Franklin Messenger al so songs and recitations by the children. Mrs Collier was the pianist. Baptismal services were held for the following Thursday ev ening, April 3 at the Community church with Rev Floyd S Bailey officiating assisted by Omar Rietmann: Keith Rea, Robert Drake, Gene Rietmann, Rollo Crawford, Mr and Mrs Delmer Crawford, Phil Emert Jr, Harry Swart, Ellis Ball, Linda White- man, Arleta McCabe, Daylene McDonald and Cherilyn Smouse. Others becoming members of the church were Mr and Mrs Earl McCabe, Mr and Mrs Boyce, Mrs L F Leathers, Mrs Lewis Haivor sen, Mrs Ella Burgoyne, Jean Martin, Marilee Leathers and Linda Haivorsen. Mrs Phil Emert Sr and Donald Bristow became members by letter. At the serv ices the choir sang The Secret Place accompanied by Mrs Bill Rietmann. A reception in honor of the new members followed the services in the basement of the church. Refreshments were served from a table appropriat ely decorated. The deaconesses and members of the choir were in charge. Those pouring were Mrs Dale Ray and Mrs Mary Swanson. The Stations of the Cross and the benediction were given at St Williams church Friday ev ening of last week. The American Legion Auxil iary met at the Legion hall Tues day afternoon April 1 with Mrs Omar Rietmann and Mrs Walter Roberts as hostesses. At the bus iness meeting it was decided to serve pie and coffee at the dance recital at the school cafetorium April 25 in the evening. The door receipts will go. toward the lone public library. Members sent post cards to their congressmen asking them to vote for no re ductions in hospital beds, wards and hospitals in the Veterans Administration. Mrs C E Brenner, Child Wel fare chairman, named the fol lowing chairman on her com mittees for the Child Welfare tea to be given April 13 at the Le gion hall starting at 2 pm: Mrs John Eubanks, program; Mrs Walter Corley, dresses and style show; Mrs Brenner, tables; Mrs Earl McCabe, kitchen; Mrs Eldon Tucker, clean up; David McLeod, care of children; and Mrs Omar Rietmann, punch, cof fee and tea. Childrens dresses to be modeled and later sent to the children's home at Fairview home in Salem, should be left with Mrs Corley or Mrs Brenner by April 11. Mrs Echo Palmateer, Unit his torian, received an award on her 904 25 weekly puts extra safety on every wheel unit history for last year. The lone Extention Unit met at the home of Mrs E M Baker Thursday April 3. The following officers were re-elected for an other year: Mrs Jimmy Petty john, president; Mrs Elmer Hoi tz, vice president; and Mrs Ed Baker, secretary and treasurer. Mrs Baker and Mrs Marion Pal mer demonstrated broiler meals. They broiled a meat loaf, fish, cake icing and snacks. The food was served at a dinner at noon. Plans were mde for the Unit at the Home Makers festival, April 29. Lexington is the host. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs Roger Kincaid on house plants. Mr and Mrs Tad Miller enter tained at an Easter dinner at their home. Those present were Mr and Mrs Wate Crawford, Mr and Mrs Delmer Crawford and daughters, Mr , and Mrs Arthur Crawford, Mr and Mrs Milton Morgan and family and Rollo Crawford all of lone and Mr and Mrs Harlan Crawford and daugh ter of Echo. Mr and Mrs E W Bristow spent the weekend in Portland with their son and family, Mr and Mrs Tommy Bristow. Mr and Mrs E M Baker and daughter, Mardine spent Sunday afternoon with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Ronald Baker at Hermiston. Guests Sunday at the Charles Hudson home were his parents, Mr and Mrs Lowell Hudson of Pendleton and Gary Stephenson. Mr and Mrs Bill Rietmann and son, Mark, visited relatives in Arlington Sunday. Miss Alice Nichoson of Port land spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs Edith Nicho son. Mrs Joseph Kallster, student at the Pacific University spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs Noel Dobyns. Judy Mason also a student at the Uni versity accompanied her. Mr and Mrs Robert DeSpain and sons spent Sunday with rel atives in Cascade Locks. Mrs Ernest Hellker, Mrs Cec il Thome, Mrs Anna L!ndstrom are spending a few days in Seat tle. They were accompanied by Mrs Pearl Devine of Heppner. The Eastern Star social club had a very successful pie and coffee and food sale at the Re- bekah hall Saturday afternoon. Mrs Pete Cannon entertained the bridge club at her home Fri day evening of last week. Those receiving prizes were Mrs Del mer Crawford, high, Mrs Wal ter Jacobs, 2nd high and Mrs David McLeod low. Mr and Mrs Lester Goodrich and son, Norman, of Husum, Wash were visitors at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs Dale Ray last week. The Rays and Goodrichs spent Saturday in Walla Walla at the home of Mr and Mrs Lester Downing. The Downings are the parents of a daughter, born March 22. Her name is Claudia Gay. Mr and Mrs Goodrich are the grandpar ents and Mr and Mrs Ray are the "grandparents. Bonnie Crum, student at the Northwest Nazarene college at Nampa, Idaho is spending the spring vacation with her par ents, Mr and Mrs Ralph Crum. Dinner guests at the James Botts home Sunday were Mr and Mrs Elroy Ellis and family of Naches, Wash; Mr and Mrs Jam es Botts Jr and family of Her miston; Mr and Mrs Ronald Fahl and family of Portland; Mr and Mrs Kenneth Botts and daugh ter of Umatilla; Mr and Mrs Ri chard Botts of Irrigon; Irvin Botts of Seattle; Jackie Griffin of Lexington. Afternoon guests were Mrs John Botts and daugh ter, Louise. Dennis and Sandra Ellis of Naches went home with the Ron ald Fahls for a visit. Earl Padberg of LaGrande spent Easter with relatives here. Gary Brenner, who is employ ed at Meier, Frank and Co spent the weekend with his parents, Mr and Mrs C E Brenner. Dinner guests at the Hattie Crabtree home Sunday were Mr and Mrs Archie Munkers of Lex ington, Mr and Mrs Leo Crab tree and children, Mr and Mrs Lewis Haivorsen and children and Melissa Hubbard. Mr and Mrs Robert Bell of Caldwell, Idaho, spent Saturday at the Roger Kihcaid home. Mr and Mrs Hale Hubbard were Portland visitors last week. April 17 A potluck supper will be held at the Rebekah hall at 6 pm in honor of George Ely and Mr and Mrs Fran cis Ely of Salem. Friends are invited to attend the supper. The regular lodge meeting will be held after supper. April- 18 H E C of Willows grange meeting at the home of Mrs Wate Crawford. April 19 Willows grange meet ing at 8 pm. April 20 4-H Sunday will be ob served at the Community church at 11 am. A party will be given in honor of George Ely of Salem at the Masonic hall Wednesday even ing April 16 following a short meeting of the Masons. All friends are invited. Guests at the Garland Swan son home Sunday were their son, Dennis, and Bert Swingle of Portland, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Turner, Mrs Nora Turner and Mr and Mrs Harry Bongers of Hepp ner, Mr and Mrs Adon Hamlett and children and Mrs Mary Swanson. Mr and Mrs Wallace Matth ews and daughters spent the weekend in Portland and Rose burg. Mr and Mrs Earl Wright and Mr and Mrs Kenneth Wright and children of Baker spent the weekend with their mother and grandmother, Mrs Ida Grabill. Mrs Harry Fletcher and chil dren of Yakima are spending this week with her parents, Mr and Mrs Harvey Rine and other relatives. Edward Botts of the US Navy and son of Mr and Mrs James Botts is ill in a hospital in the Philippines. Mr and Mrs John Sanders and sons of Portland spent the week end at the John Eubanks home. Other guests at the Eubanks home Sunday were Mr and Mrs Lloyd Morgan and family. Mr and Mrs Cecil Stephens and son of The Dalles spent Sun day at the A W McLeod home. Mrs Cleo Drake and Mrs Cecil Thome were elected delegates to the Rebekah Assembly to be held in May at Corvallis. Mrs David Rietmann and Mrs Sam Esteb were elected as alternates. Mrs Drake was recommended as district deputy president. Ellis Ball, son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Ball, underwent a oper ation on his knee one day last week. He is about on crutches.
