Child Welfare Talked at lone Auxiliary Meeting By ECHO PALMATEER The American Legion Auxiliary j met at the Legion hall Tuesday! afternoon, March 4. Mrs William Heath of Heppner, Child Wel fare chairman for district 6, was present and gave a talk on child welfare. Those making them were, 1 Mrs C E Brenner, Mrs Lewis Halv orsen, Mrs E W Bristow, Mrs Earl McCabe, Mrs L A McCabe, Mrs Roland Bergstrom, Mrs Elmer Holtz made two jackets and Mrs Elmer Harr of Blackfoot, Ida made two. 43 ditty bags and 6 laundry bags were also made. Ssne wished to thank all those making jackets, bags and also the junior girls for making paper flowers, cookies and gathering nylons. Mrs Earl McCabe, junior act ivities chairman, reported that her girls gathered old nylon hose and made paper flowers Satur day, March 1 and she served refreshments to them at the Leg ion hall. The nylon hose will be sent to Camp White to be made into rues bv veterans. This pro ject will be carried on each year and people are urged to save their old nylon hose. The ditty bazs. laundrv bags and jackets will be sent to Camp White and the flowers to the Portland hos pital. The Child Welfare tea will be herd at the Legion hall, April 13. Children's clothes will be made or purchased and mod eled' by children. Mrs Brenner is the child welfare chairman. The Leeion's birthday party will be held March 18 at the hall with a Dotluck dinner at 6:30 P M. All Legion and Auxiliary and their families are welcome. Leann Padberg, a junior in the lone High, was elected to go to Girl's State In June. Mrs Gordon White Is the chairman of Girls State. Refreshments were served by Mrs Robert Rietmann.
