also entered in the contest.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dobyns
spent Christmas with their
daughter and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Tad Hardesty in Eugene.
Baptismal services were held
for Vickie Marie Ekstrom, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Ekstrom,
at the Valby Lutheran church
Sunday Dec. 22. Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Rea were the sponsors.
Rev. Merlin Zier, pastor offic
iated. Miss Ruby Ann Rietmann, tea
cher in the Pendleton schools
spent the holidays with her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Riet
mann. Dr. and Mrs. Paul Davles of
Portland were weekend visitors
at the home of Rev. and Mrs.
Lloyd Bailey.
The Co-weds were entertained
Thursday evening at the school
nouse gym by Mrs. David Mc
Leod and Mrs. Pete Cannon. They
enjoyed volleyball, tumbling and
other sports. Refreshments were
served afterwards at the McLeod
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Rod Kvistad and
son of Beaverton spent the holi
days at the Oscar Peterson home.
Mrs. Virginia Miller of Wads-
worth, Nevada was. a guest of the.
McGiU family in Cecil over the

weekend with her mother,. Mrs.

relatives in Salem, and Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Matthews
and daughters spent a few days
in Portland last week.
Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brenner and
son, Gary, spent Christmas with
relatives In Portland.

strom home Christmas day were

and daughters of Brookings, Wal
ter Bergstrom of Chico, Calif, and
Mr. and Mrs. Roland Bergstrom
and daughters. The Norman Berg
strom's are visiting here during
the holidays. He is a teacher in
the Brookings schools. Walter is
a student at the Chico State Col
lege in California.

The members of the Baptist
church gave a shadowgraph on
the Nativity in seven scenes Fri
day evening, Dec. 20 conducted
by Mrs. Ruby Nichols. Rev. Bill
Collier gave a talk and treats
were given to all afterwards.
The Nazarene church Sunday
school presented a program at
the grange hall Sunday evening
Dec. 22. The young people gave
a play in 5 scenes, "The best
Gift," recitations were given by
the children and treats were given
to all.

en after the grange meeting Sat
urday evening Dec. 21, with Mrs.
Harold Dobyns, in charge: a song,
Away in a Manger by Sherry
Corley and Sue Townsend with
Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Lundell in the
tableau; a reading, Grandpa's
Sock by Linda Rowell; singing
and playing on the guitar by
Sidney Zinter; an old fashioned
Christmas march and exchange
of cards by all and Santa Claus

was born Dec. 15 to Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Holly. Mr. Holly is the son
of Mrs. Dobyns.
