Joe Wheeler received word that his brother Ed had passed away at Sacramento, Calif. His funeral was Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Boyer came home Tuesday evening then went back to Prlnevllle Wednes day afternoon so as to be close to the doctor. She then went on to Salem where Mr. Boyer's sis ter lives. Mrs. Evelyn Simpson has rent ed one of the Boyer houses and moved Into it last week. Her son Jimmy works for Elzy Emery. Earl Sweek and Roy Bowman have been busy the past weeks fixing up the Sweek house to rent to Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Heise of Hitter. He works for the REA. Earl Lewis has been quite ill with the flu. Marlene Lewis U staying with her grandparents the Bud Engles. Fred McWillis accompanied his granddaughter Mrs. Aaron Ingftlls and two children to Sweet Home Sunday to see her mother Mrs. Joe Wheeler who is down there for tier health. Maynard Hamilton is working at the Bud Engle home on Col tonwood doing cement and plumbing work. Mrs. Stella McCarty and three children and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howell drove to Heppner Thurs day for an appointment with the AS ORDER EARLY! CNRISTM . Mr. and Mrs. George Stirritt ar rived home Friday after spending six weeks in La Grande where she was doctoring. Doris Capon drove to Heppner Tuesday. She was accompanied by Mrs. Olive Cox and Mrs. Anna Cox. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin and two daughters drove to Salem Wednesday evening for the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lippert made a trip to Portland and re turned home Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Howell of Spray were up for the weekend at their ranch on Wall creek. Mrs. Virginia Barber, Portland spent the weekend visiting her mother Mrs. Clarence Buxton. Roy Harmon and Mac Drewy of Blue River stopped to visit at the Matteson home on their way into the elk camp Friday morn ing. George Gray and daughter Wanda of Pendleton visited at the Matteson home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mellor and children spent the weekend in Heppner at her sister's home, Mrs. Stanley Cox. Mrs. Ed Rounds and sister Litha Bonaficie of Fox returned home from Portland Sunday eve ning where they had been some time. Litha was there for surgery. She will stay at the Round home for two weeks. Robert McMast ers of the Methodist church of Weston showed slides of Alaska and gave a very interesting lect ure about Alaska wh.re he had lived for four years. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kincaid are remodeling their house on seeonfi! street. The work is being done by Howard Keitmey or Heppner. Mrs. Grant Rigby has returned home from the Pioneer Memorial , hospital. , Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Holtz an'3 family visited in Richland Sun day with a classmate of Mr. Holtz, Mr. and Mrs. David Resner. Mrs. Sara Aldrich is a pattern at the Pioneer Memorial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Boyer and three children returned Sat urday evening from Salem where they had visited his sister and family. Mamie Fergerson, Doris Vincent Moya Gilman were in Canyon City Friday on business. Mrs. Jack Forrest took her two babies to John Day Saturday aft ernoon for medical aid Mr. and Mrs. Mix Cox drove to Heppner Sunday for her medical checkup. She is recouperating from surgery three weeks ago. Verne McCarty hauled cat tle to Redmond for the livestock sale on Wednesday from Matte son, Lippert and McCarty. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lewis and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmfl Lewis, drove to Prineville Sat urday where they went to the doctor and attended to business matters. Verne McCarty and two sons drove to Fossil on Friday.
