A P-TA committee meeting was held at the school Monday aft ernoon to make plans for a get acquainted party in honor of the teachers and new parents to be held Sept. 6 at the cafetorium at Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dobyns and Mrs. Edith Nicholson left Monday morning for Vancouver Island, B. C. Mrs. Grace Cunningham of Post Falls, Ida. and Mrs. Charles Smith of Olympia, Wash, are vis iting their aunt, Mrs Fannie Griffith. Mrs. Mabel Pickens of Salem is visiting her daughter and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. John Hatfield. Recent visitors at the Hatfield home were Rev. and Mrs. Elvin Fast of Salem. Married At Hood River Miss Viva Carroll and Gaylord Salter were married in Hood Riv er Saturday atternoon Aug. 24. Her sister, Mrs. Warren May gave a reception for them following the wedding. Mr. Salter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Salter of lone. They will be at home in Uma- pine following a short honey moon trip. He is a teacher in the L'mnpine schools. Those attend ing the wedding from here were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Snider. Mrs. Lana Padberg is having her home remodeled. Homer Mankin lias been paint ing the outside of his house on Second street. Rev. and Mrs. Charles Wilkes left this week for Grants Pass and Roseburg where tliey will visit relatives. Rev. Wilkes re cently took Jack Crum, John Botts and Leslie Madden to a teen-age Nazarene camp at Pinelow near Spokane. Mrs. Luther Garner of Pendle ton is staying with her grand mother, Mrs. Elise Peterson.
