Heppner Cleaners in apprecia
tion of their work in cleaning
the clothing. It was announced
that the annual women's retreat
of the Oregon Fellowship of
Congregational women would be
held at Camp Adams July 24-26.
Mrs. Wate Crawford received the
door prize.
Mrs. Pete Cannon gave a party
for her daughter, Cathy, Thurs
day July 11. She was three years
old. Others present were John,
Pamela and Lisa McCabe, Franc

neer Memorial hospital.
Harvesting is getting under
way in this community. Most all
of the farmers in the Morgan
district are combining and sev
eral north of lone are starting
this week. Much of the grain
south of lone is still not ripe
enough to combine.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Buschke
and two sons of Los Angeles are
staying with his father, Ed
Buschke at Morgan, and are
helping during harvest.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pomerantz
of North Hollywood, Calif., and
Henry Clark and son, Lowell of
Ordnance spent Sunday here
Mrs. Pomerantz is a daughter of
Mr. Clark and they are visiting
him at Ordnance.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen
and family returned last week
from a trip to Yellowstone park.
They went through Unity where
they visited the John Ranciers
and through Idaho. They return

Coulee dam.
Mr. and Mrs. Alyri Hoak of Los
Alamos, N. M. are the parents
of a son, Cary Lynn, born June
29. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hoak of
Seattle are the grandparents and

last week with her brother and
sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ron

Mrs. Franklin Ely, who is at

land spent the weekend at home.

returned home last week from
Minnesota where they visited rel
atives. Fire Takes Wheat
A fire of unknown origin burn
ed about 20 acres of Omar wheat
on the Ray Heimbigner ranch
Friday of last week about noon.
Mr. Heimbigner finished cutting
barley near there and pulled the
combine to the shop about 10 a.
m. Ralph Crum, who was cutting
barley near by saw the fire and
with his bulldozer and with help
from neighbors soon put the fire
out. The fire jtruck was called
from lone but the fire was out
when they arrived.
