PATRICK'S CHURCH SCENE OF BLEVINS-GONTY WEDDING SATURDAY St. Patrick's Catholic church was the scene Saturday after noon at 2 p. m. of the wedding of Miss Eleanor Virginia Gonty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Gonty, to Terry D. Blevins son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blevins of Superior, Montana. Rev. P. J. Gaire, officiated. Mr. Gonty gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a white lace ballerina length dress over white taffeta, with waist length veil of white net held in place by a tiara of tiny seed pearls. White roses with white satin streamers caught with tiny bows topped her white prayer book. Miss Shirley Kononen, maid of honor, wore a pink ballerina length formal with white acces sories and carried a nosegay of pink and white roses. The brides maids, dressed like the honor attendant, were Miss Joan Pat rick of Lexington and Miss Janet Keithley. Raymond Gonty, brother of the bride, was best man and ushers were Al Parents and Walter Speer. Gloria Aylesworth and Verla Herscheel, nieces of the groom were dressed in identical dresses of pink and white organdy with matching hats and carried mini ture nosegays of pink and white roses. The ring-bearer was Danny Aylesworth, nephew of the groom. The mother of the groom wore a blue gown with white accessor ies. The mother of the bride wore grey lace over pink taffeta with white and orchid accessor ies and each wore a pink rose corsage. The same color scheme was used at the reception held in the church parlors following the ceremony. Ecru lace covered the table which held the white three tiered wedding cake, topped by a miniature nosegay and sur rounded at the base by pink and white roses and carnations. Mrs. Richard Peck was in charge of the gift table. Mrs. Floyd E. Ad ams presided at thepunch bowl, Mrs. Ruth Marlatt, great-aunt of the bride, at the coffee table and Mrs. Donald Aylesworth, sister of the groom, at the tea service. Mrs. Tom Marlatt, great-aunt of the bride, completed cutting of the cake after the bride and groom cut the first piece. Miss Meredith Thomson, a classmate of the bride was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. Paul Koenig, Mrs. William Doherty and Mrs. Max Barcley arranged the recep tion. Others assisting were Mrs. Jos. B. Hughes, Mrs. Tom Walk er, Mrs. William Cunningham and Mrs. Gertrude Applegate. The bride chose as her oing away costume a light blue-grey wool suit with wedgewood blue accessories. The young couple will be at home in Milton-Free-water where the groom is in bus iness. Out - of - town guests were Mrs. Frank Blevins of Superior, Montana; Mr. and Mrs. David Aylesworth and family of Seat tle, Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Parsegian of Willits, Cali fornia; Walter Speer of West Slope. Visitor From London Feted With Luncheon Members of Soroptimist Inter national of Heppner entertained Wednesday with an outdoor luncheon at the home of Mrs. Floyd E. Adams, honoring Miss Eileen Browner of London, Eng land, a houseguest of Miss Leta Humphreys. An invited guest was Mrs. Ray Smith, native of the community in which Miss Browner was at one time employed. DICK PHONE 6-9633 HEPPNER Reunion Held In Portland By Former Heppner Residents Recently in Portland former residents of Heppner held a din ner dance and reunion at the Columbia Athletic club. . Lowell Ashbaugh acted as chairman for the reunion and Francis Nickerson as master of ceremonies. During the short business meeting Ashbaugh was chosen chairman for the coming year, it is hoped to make this an annual event. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Crawford, Eugene; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Norton, Mon mouth; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scrivner, John Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Perrott (Margaret Doo little); Mr. and Mrs. Richard Cunningham (Sybel Howell), Bethel Blake, Jeanette Blakely, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. J. Gernhart (Dorothy) Warded), Mr. and Mrs. Dan Din ges, Mr. and Mrs. Don Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Sinclair (Arlene Morton), Mr. and Mrs. Omer Mc Caleb, Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCar ty, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hoyt (Betty Coxen), Mr." and Mrs. Har ry Nelson (Marjorie Parker), Dr. and Mrs. Earl Clary and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Ashbaugh. The group is also planning a picnic tto be held later in the summer. Mrs, Hudson Presents Pupils In Recital Families and friends enjoyed a piano recital by the pupils of Mrs. D. E. Hudson, Wednesday evening, May 29, at the multi purpose room of the elementary school. Rev. L. D. Boulden gave the invocation and benediction. Appearing on the program were Eddie Howard, David George, Margaret Green, Judy ones, Shirley Nash, Rogenie Wil son, Janis Baker, Patty Mahon, Mary Evelyn Tucker, oyce Case beer, Marie Pettyjohn Sharon Bunch and Carol Anderson. There was a special number "She's a Lady" by Shirley Kono nen and Jay Sumner and a "Sec ret" which turned out to be a song and gift honoring Margaret Greens birthday, sung and pre sented by members of her class and Mrs. Hudson. Refresments prepared by mothers of the pupils, were serv ed by Mrs. Herman Green and Mrs. Elaine S. George. o Seven Tables In Play At Episcopal Party There were seven tables of bridge and pinochle in play at the annual birthday card party of the Episcopal church Satur day afternoon. High score in bridge was held by Mrs. Bruce Lindsay, second by Mrs. Harold Cohn and low by Mrs. Walter Ruggles. In pi nocle high score was made by Mrs. Fred Mankin, second by Mrs. Henry Happold and low by Miss Esther Bergstrom. Episcopal ladies making up the cbmmittees in charge of the party were Mrs. W. C. Roswell, Mrs. Robert Jones, Mrs. James Valentine, Mrs. Ambrose Chapin, Mrs. Walter Wright, Mrs. Jack Loyd, Mrs. Willard Blake, Mrs. Howard Cleveland and Mrs. Floyd R. Jones. Two Senior Girls Honored At Shower Miss Janet Wright and Miss Meredith Thomson were hostess es for a bridal shower honoring Miss Virginia Gonty and Miss Francine Francis on Monday, May 27 at the J. G. Thomson home. Two lavendar parasols com posed the centerpiece, with lav endar and white color scheme followed throughout all the dec orations. Invited guests were the girl classmates of the bride-elect in the 1957 senior class of Heppner high school, Misses Shirley Ko nonen, Janet Keithley, Laurel Al ston, Marilyn Pettyjohn, Alice Peterson and Frances Slocum, al so Mrs. Dorothy Harnes, sister of Miss Francis, Mrs. E. E. Gonty and Mrs. Rose Francis, mothers of the honorees, and Mrs. J. G. Thomson and Mrs. Walter Wright mothers of the hostesses. Miss Gonty was married June 1 to Terry D. Blevins, and Miss Francis has chosen June 29 as the date for her marriage to Vern K. Evans. Barratt Home Scene Of Farewell Dinner Party for Smiths Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Barratt, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Van Winkle and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Gardner hosted a farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Smith Saturday night at the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Barratt.
