Tuesdays Style Show Features New Spring Clothing ; About 140 persons attended the spring style show at the Elks temple Wednesray night, April 3, This was the second annual bhow arranged and produced by the Heppner Civic League with local merchants and models par Jcipating. Ia feature of the evening was i pantomime by a high school jroup composed of Shirley Ko lonen, Jay Sumner, Bob Bryant, Sddie Groshens, Eddie Olsen and Ilm Morris. Mrs. Gordon Pratt vas thep ianist. Spring flowers lecorated the rooms and tables. Mrs. Fred Gimbel and Mrs. Villiam Labhart were co- chair men of the style show. Mrs. Padberg Is New Sorority President Mrs. Eldon Padberg was elect ed president of the Beta Omega chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha at a meeting at the home of Mrs. David McLeod Wednesday eve ning, April 3. Other officers el ected were Mrs. Ted Palmateer, vice president; Mrs. Donald Pet erson, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Bill Rietmann, recording secretary; Mrs. Donald McElli gott, treasurer. The sorority sold Easter lilies at the school carnival Saturday evening. They made plans for their traveling food sale to be held Saturday, April 20 beginning at 10 a. m. Plans were also made to attend the Epsilon Sigma Alpha state convention April 26 to 28 in Pendleton. Refreshments were served by Mrs. McLeod and Mrs. Robert Peterson. Past Rulers Wives Hostesses At Elks Wives of past exalted rulers of the Elks who were hostesses Thursday night of last week at the ladies night card party were Mrs. James Farley, chairman, Mrs. Jack Van Winkle, Mrs. Earle Gilliam, Mrs. Harry Tamblyn, Mrs. Harlan McCurdy, Jr. Mrs. Willard Blake, Mrs. Terrel Benge, Mrs. C. High score at pinochle went to Miss Esther Bergstrom and second high to Mrs. Robert Dobbs. In bridge, Mrs. C. E. Haasze of Seattle had high score and sec ond high was won by Mrs. Mar shall Lovgren. Mrs. Oral Wright won the door prize. Crowells Celebrate Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Crowell, Mor gan, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, March 31 at their home. A family turkey dinner was attended by 42 at noon. Later In the after noon a four-tiered wedding cake topped with bells and the figure "50" was cut by the goldenweds. Four of the couple's six child ren present were Mrs. Vester Nel son, Omak, Wn.j Mrs. Al Winkle man, Lexington; Howard Crow ell, lone, Robert Crowell, Cecil cil. Four generations present were the honored couple, their daughter, Mrs. Nelson; grandson, J. D. Stevens and great-grand daughter, Dawn Stevens. Mr. ana Mrs. Lroweii were married at Sherman, Wexford county, Michigan, April 2, 1907. They came to Oregon 41 years ago in June and to Morrow county in 1916. The nominating committee elected was Mrs. Loyal Parker, Mrs. Grace Nickerson and Mrs. William Collins. Election will be held the first meeting in May. Mrs. Floyd Adams told nf her trip to Grand Junction, Colorado and of visiting some of the ura nium mines around there. Guests from Pendleton, Weston, Hermiston, Stanfield and Echo were Introduced to the 48 pre sent. Chairman for the dinner was Mrs. Frank Ayers, assisted by Mrs. N. D. Bailey and Mrs. Cor nett Green. Mrs. Clarence Bau man and Mrs. Gerald Rood were on the dining room committee. During the afternoon games were played with Mrs. Altha Kirk and Mrs. Rufus Piper in charge. Decorations were pussy willows, daffodils and buttercups. o .' ELKS WIVES PARTY The Hermiston Emblem club No 215 will have a luncheon and card party Tuesday afternoon, ApriU6 from 1 to 5 p. m. at the Hermiston Elks Temple. All Hep pner Elks wives are invited. Plans were made for a clean up day April 7 at the barn and grounds with a potluck dinner at noon at the club house. The first ride will be Sunday, April 14 to the Al Fetsch ranch.
