THE CHAT CHAT SEWING CLUB The Chat and Chat 4-H Sewing club met at the home of Patricia Van Winkle on Monday, Decern ber 17 after school. We made Christmas gifts for our mothers and fathers with the help of our leaders Mrs. Brindle, Mrs. Van Winkle and Janice Martin. We also had a gift ex change and sang Silent Night. uur club is going to sing Christmas carols for the hospital on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p. m. Our next meeting will be after the holidays in January. Mrs. Van Winkle served refreshments. Martha Peterson, reporter RHEA CREEK LIVESTOCK CLUB The Rhea Creek 4-H Livestock club meeting was held at Rhea Creek grange December 16. We had a potluck dinner. All members were present and "also their parents. We had eleven visitors. We had a regular business meeting and a talk by county agent N. C. Anderson, on our new record books and new feed sche dule for The Dalles show. The meeting was adjourned. Members had a Christmas gift exchange. Vernon here Friday night of last week and also Elgin here Saturday night The grade school junior varsity and varsity teams won from Stan, field here Thursday of last week. The grade school junior varsity team lost at Heppner Friday and won from Heppner here Saturday. School will close Friday Dec. 21 at 1:30 p. m. and open again Jan. 2. Boardman News Mr. and Mrs. Newell Vaught and daughter Gail, Richland, Wash., visited Mrs. Vaught's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller and Miss Jean Scott were in Portland from Wednesday till Saturday last week. Bill Thorpe received a badly cut hand while setting up a Christmas tree Saturday evening, and was taken to a nhvsician in Hermiston. Three stitches were taken In the wound. Mr onri mk ra1 Eades and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Pool spent two days In Portland lasx wee. The local post office will be open Saturday afternoon, Dec. 22, for the purpose of mallng Christmas mall. o Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ruggle were In Portland over the weekend.
